PizzaExpress — Restaurant in London

I would like to share my recent experience at this restaurant during Sunday lunch. Unfortunately, it was, without exaggeration, the worst service I have ever encountered. Despite the restaurant being busy, the waiting staff moved at a glacial pace. No one paid attention to our table, and I ended up doing the waiter’s job myself.

I had to serve the food, pour water, and clear the table. Not once did any staff member approach us to check if everything was alright. I found myself managing everything—from ensuring we had enough water to prompting when to order desserts and even signalling that our table needed clearing.

When we accidentally spilled some water, the waitress brought over a blue roll, but instead of helping, she just left a crumpled pile of it on the table. Later, when one of the children spilled yoghurt, she handed us four tiny napkins and left. The wet, messy puddle remained next to us for the entire duration of our meal. It genuinely felt like nobody cared.

To make matters worse, this wasn’t just any lunch. I had chosen this place to celebrate my daughter’s birthday with 11 children. I had even sent the restaurant a list of the children’s meal choices well in advance, hoping this would lead to a smooth and efficient service. How wrong I was! Things were so delayed that I had to ask the parents to arrive half an hour later because the staff couldn’t keep up.

I had hoped this day would remain in my memories as something bright and beautiful—a day where, for the money I paid, the children would be well-fed and happy. But no, it wasn’t even close to that. It was a complete nightmare!

The whole experience was dreadful. At one point, I couldn’t hold back and told the manager exactly what I thought. He apologised, of course, but that was all. His apology felt empty, and it was clear his lack of leadership contributed to the poor service and the staff’s indifferent attitude.

As long as this manager remains in charge, I can confidently say you will not receive a good dining experience. I left feeling shaky with nerves and frustration. This was particularly disappointing as I have visited many other branches of this chain and always had a positive experience.

I will never return. This day will now live on as a nightmare...

I can’t remember the last time I went to a pizza express but I can tell you this time was unforgettable, so I decided to leave a review. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles, and friendly faces. They were very attentive bc they kept coming to check on us, whether we were ready to order, drinks or needed anything else. The food was delicious! When I told the manager that is was my sons bday he kindly brought him a little cake with a candle, malign this an unforgettable experience. I’m definitely coming back! I haven't been to pizza express in years, because i never thought it was very good but I went for the first time in ages a few days ago and it was amazing! I am not a big fan of pizza so I had cannalonie a vegetarian dish that was fantastic, but don't have it if you don't like cheese!
