A restaurant that feels like home. As a coeliac I usually dodge local Italian restaurants because the choices are often underwhelming to say the least. Here I could get an array of options as they have gf pasta, risottos and most meat and fish dishes can be gf with no trouble. A random event took me into this spot and I'm so glad because now I plan to make it a regular haunt. I was welcomed and comfortable even though I ate alone and frankly devoured my chicken risotto which was super tasty. This isn't about fads like "charcoal pizza", it's about the warmth of the service plus good comforting food. The decor is charmingly dated but honestly I love it more because of it. No trendy art or food on wooden boards...just a simple restaurant that serves honest Italian dishes and treats customers like family so far as I could tell. That's why it gets 5 stars from me. Too few places like this still exist. Long may this one last!! 💖

No frills, friendly and welcoming service. The portions are generous. Satisfying all palates is impossible, in the case of "Tagliatelle alla carbonara" there are those who would like the bacon more cooked, others less, others would like more eggs ... Mine was well balanced and the pasta cooked to the right point. I would like the bruschetta presented nicely with a little more oil (but this is my preference), good and excellent to start the meal. The "Mari e monti" risotto is perfect as it is and I highly recommend it. The wine list is not large, but as they say: few, but good. I hope to soon find the opportunity to return more than willingly. The cost is moderate, considering that we drank two bottles of Italian wine and one of Moscato Asti I thought the bill was higher, to sum up I would give 5 stars and ££ / £££.

My daughter and I had dinner here on Saturday evening. We were welcomed on entry and got to pick our own table which was nice. Her phone had run out and they kindly charged it for her. We were in a slight rush so only ordered mains. We both ordered the carbonara, I had spaghetti and she had tagliatelle. Both were delicious. We talked a lot about how much we liked the “vibe” in there. Nice chairs, decor, music, colours. It feels very authentic and it’s also very good value. £12 for a cabonara in sw London is decent and makes me want to go back again. 100% we will be going back there to try other things on the menu. The specials looked good too. A local gem. Can’t believe I’ve not been in there before.

The worst meal in years...the worst pizza in my life! I cannot understand how this restaurant has such a high rating...probably people that eat here have never eaten a proper Italian pizza. I visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening with my family visiting from Italy; the place was empty and only two people were sat at a table not far away just waiting for dessert. No music was on and the atmosphere was really awkward for the first 15 min. They eventually put on some Italian music which my grandma said she used to listen to in her twenties (around 60 years ago); just to be clear, in Italy you won't listen anything like that in any restaurant - not even the Ave Maria that started playing after a while....!!!! We ordered 6 pizzas and after 40 min waiting and no one coming to apologise for the delay, we asked if anything was wrong in the kitchen as we thought that 40 in wait for 6 pizzas in an empty restaurant was excessive. One of the 2 men, thinking we were all tourists, told us that in London it does not work like in Italy and that you need to wait a long time in a restaurant. I replied saying that I have been living in London for 7 years and I have never experienced such a long wait for food. He then said he was not working there and that he was only at the restaurant to help his friend (the owner I guess?). When they finally brought us the pizzas, they made a mistake on 2 of the 6 orders. The man/owner offered to make us new pizzas but as we were starving, we refused and we started eating what we did not order. The dough was so hard, thick and heavy that I could eat only 2 slices and I was forced to leave the rest. The mozzarella they used was not fresh at all and tasted like those plasticky cheap mozzarella from the supermarket. The thing that they sell as 'Parma Ham' IS NOT Parma ham... this is false advertising and they shouldn't use the name of a brand if they serve a cheap thickly cut version of it. When all of us left half pizza each, the man came to take the plates away and when I told him that I didn't like the pizza, he offered to make another one.....which I absolutely refused. He presented us with a hand written bill with no discount whatsoever (so who knows if what he decided to charge us was the actual price on the menu?) and after we paid we left. I was so ashamed of having brought my family here.....the worst experience in London and such a fake cheap representation of a beautiful country like Italy. In will NEVER come back here and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you are in Tooting and fancy for decent Italian food, go to Dolce Vita or...

As you can see from my profile i visit many places and this restaurant has been my best experience so far. My total bill price was so low for good quality food i had to tip an extra £30 because i felt that is what it was worth.

My partner had the carbonara, which she insisted i try, and it was the best carbonara i have ever had.

Our starter was the garlic pizza bread which was good, and i had the salami pizza which was amazing the toppings felt like qood quality food.

The food and portions were so good that i we couldn't finish them, but we had to our leftovers with us.

The music was not too loud which was good and it was obvious a lot of the guests were regulars and this added to the good vibe in the atmosphere.

It was a pleasure to see the owner working on this occasion it was good to see someone who works with a passion and is so good to his customers he's notnjust taking their money he's actually engaging people tending to them, actually serving them. He even made sure i wasn't tipping too much. When he asked me how the meal was i had to stand up and shake this mans hand and tell him face to face his food and service was amazing.

We both left the restaurant feeling happy and satisfied and my drive home i was in a state of bliss.

We will definitely be coming back by bus so we can enjoy a bottle of wine or 2 and will skip starter so we can have space for a dessert.

I will also be bringing my son on another visit as he like Italian food.

I visit a lot of chain restaurants and they just cant match authenticity like...

Terrible experience of both the food and the service. It appears to be taken over by new management again. I ordered the pasta with broccoli and sausage which was hands down the worst plate of pasta I've ever tasted, it actually made me feel depressed. It was UNMISTAKABLY MICROWAVED, the tomato sauce was bland, the broccoli was limp and soggy, and the sausage was grey, tasteless and definitely not Italian. The service was bizarre... the staff did not seem to know how to show people to tables, a couple who asked to be seated were met with blank stares until they gave up and just seated themselves. Before we started our meal we confirmed with them that they were participating in the 'eat out to help out' 50% discount (which they were, and were listed on the gov.uk site). At the end of the meal we were presented with a bill with 15% off. My husband queried this 3 times, saying it should be 50% and each time they returned the bill slightly adjusted but still not at 50%, eventually the waiter walked off annoyed and told my husband to work out the bill himself! I went to this restaurant about a year and a half ago and had the opposite experience, the food was wonderful as were the staff. If I could give this review minus...
