Oh dear. All I wanted was a lovely take away meal on a Sunday night but instead was confronted by a very angry owner who insisted my complaint of a very unsavory looking dish was not accepted and it was my fault for ordering this dish. Upon collection I called the restaurant to complain about the appearance, portion and smell of my dish. The owner came on the phone and was completely unwilling to listen to what I had to say. My partner to be fair was angry in the background having overheard the response I received which never helps but it was clear that the owner was blaming me for not liking how it looked rather than how poorly cooked it was and truly unedable as the meat was undercooked(he didn’t even let me explain this). Since the conversation got heated I returned to the restaurant(they are my neighbors in fact). Instantly I was greeted by an older gentleman whom not only taunted me when I tried to explain my consumer rights but refused to refund me or give me any solution but to get out of his shop. He saw the order and I believe he truly knew it wasn’t of a good standard but insisted I had a rotten attitude so he wasn’t prepared to deal with me although his attitude and arrogance was uncalled for. Sorry but I I felt at this point I needed to stand my ground and not feel intimidated especially since this was a fair complaint?! Most restaurants would provide you with an apology at the very least. Things got heated and I actually thought he was going to push me. After staff and patrons began to look upon us things took a turn when the owner ended up waving £20 in my face, then handed it to me while grabbing my arm to be escorted out. I asked him not to touch me and that I couldn’t believe the class he was showing. He screamed for me to get out of his shop like I had harassed him out of his lifes savings. Oddly enough another lady whom I believe took my order came to the door and was strangly apologetic(shame she doesn’t deal with customer complaints). I also learned that these are brand new owners having actually been here several times before and having no issues at all under the previous owners. I know many people in this local community but have never experienced any...

Cannot thank PrithaDi and her entire team enough for making this possible.
Living in Edinburgh we are always on a hunt for 'proper' Bong dishes with no luck... This time we saw this Royal Mughlai Box on Posto Facebook page and pestered PrithaDi to do a trial by sending the food all the way up to bonny Scotland!!! She did.... And I must say our Anniversary/ Valentine weekend turned extra special.
Biriyani was yummmilicious with generous, tender mutton pieces, with * egg and potato * ..... Bongs looking for mutton (don't confuse with lamb.... they are not the same, contrary to what few individuals believe)...
Murgh malai tikka and Shami kabab was super juicy and soft even after travelling a day in cold packaging.
Tasty Mughlai chicken and peas kachuri with generous filling was a total show stealer.
Fish fry made us nostalgic with an addition of a little kasundi. Damn I'm salivating as I'm writing this review.....
Gajar ka Halwa finished the grand feast with a sweet after taste. Wish I had ordered more....
I can't thank enough the team of Posto for catering to the needs of probasi Bongs suffering from authentic Bong food deficiency.
Also I have already placed order for the next box deal. Great to know now there is a website to get food ordered whenever we crave authentic Bong food from Kolkata.
Thanks again to the entire...
Read moreSad to report that the food we sampled recently was very poor. We ordered a chicken lollipop, steamed rice, tadka daal, aloo Posto and fish kalia. The chicken lollipop was over-fried to the point of being inedible, the tadka daal tasted and looked like daal that had been in the fridge and subsequently heated up inadequately as it was lumpy and did not seem to have any tempered spices for flavour. In fact ‘tadka’ or ‘tarka’ in Bengal is an entirely different type of daal as far as I know that is sometimes cooked with egg or meat, but this may have been a North Indian take on it. The aloo Posto was about the only item that was moderately acceptable. However most bengali households would most likely be able to knock up a better tasting version of this. The rohu fish in the kalia had no taste at all and it tasted like it the fish had been quickly combined with a separate onion rich sauce. I feel sad that this establishment has gone downhill since we first tried the place when it opened. Our first couple of visits went very well but since then we have visited or taken away food on multiple occasions and every time it has been well below expected standards. I do not know if this particular trip was an unfortunate one off but we feel short changed by our recent trips where the food has more often than not been...
