Real China? More like fake china. Staff were kind and great but this was not worth £15 at all. I was absolutely appauled with this buffet. I went there with my friend expecting the food to taste immaculate however it tasted like absolute garbage. The chips were not even fried. They were cold and rubbery, there was no range in the deserts. Who would even want jaffacakes as a desert. I can go to sainsburys for that. The sweet and sour chicken didn't even taste like sweet and sour chicken. No wonder they make you pay at the entrance. Normally at a buffet you pay after you have had your meal! The place wasn't clean and neither were the plates and cutlery cleaned properly either. This was not a buffet at all. No range in meals. Just noodles and egg fried rice. I did enjoy the egg fried rice however that was all. If you want real chinese food you are better off going to New East down the road (10 Harpsfield Broadway, Hatfield AL10 9TF). 10/10 chinese there. I will not be coming back to this shambles of a buffet ever again in my life. Hopefully the restaurant can read my review and drastically improve the range of food and desert so that other people can have a better experience there. 2 stars from me and that's me...
Read moreOnce this would have been 4 stars, but after last night I'm bumping it down. I used to love Real China - delicious, hot food, great prices and portions. Then I noticed the portion sizes were smaller - but not a big deal, it was still enough to fill you up. And then over the last few months the quality of food has declined, sometimes with me wondering if they've been properly cooked. Then last night I ordered Monks Vegetables and boiled rice. The rice was hard and cold, clearly not cooked properly, something I've noticed that has happened the last few months when ordering. The Monks Vegetables were inedible. The sauce was thick, gloopy, slimey and tasteless. Usually it's mostly tofu and brocolli and cabbage, no no, this time it was full of those long, yellow, rectangular vegetables that taste of nothing and are just used to fill it up. I emailed asking for a refund, only for these items and not the other I ordered, and have been ignored. Considering I was within my rights to ask for many refunds recently, giving the decline in quality of the food, the least they could do is answer me.
So this lack of care for their customers is why I've lowered my rating and why I won't be ordering...
Read moreWe ordered food via their app on 29th Jan 2018. The food was ordered for 8:30pm (which is a function on their app), and arrived 40 minutes early. We contacted the company and after a lot of discussion were told we would receive replacement food at 8.30pm, and that they would take back the food they had already delivered. We waited for 40 minutes happy at the resolution.
At 8.40pm we got a phone call from someone different at the restaurant telling us we would get no food and no replacement - they refused to listen and were told there was nothing to do ('we are too busy' was thrown around a lot).
So we had spent 30 quid, spent almost 30 minutes on the phone arguing with them, and had been lied to. What we got was stone cold food. As we ordered from them directly, there was nothing we could do - there was no one to complain to.
Absolutely terrible place. Avoid at all costs unless you like...
