The former Café Mustachio used to be my fave coffee shop when I was living in Surrey Quays, so I finally had the opportunity to give the new Café Pistachio a try this weekend. And against all odds, the new owners that took over have actually managed to turn it into an ever better version of it!

The shop is still as tiny but super cosy (personally, I love grabbing a sit outside by the front terrace with a cigarette and watch life going by along Lower Rd) coffee is just as good as it used to be, but there is sooo much more choice on the food menu! So far, I have tried the English Breakfast & Eggs Royale which were delicious and served in good portions - it’s so tasty you can tell they’re using fresh ingredients. Prices are decent too.

But where CafĂ© Pistachio really makes a difference compared to the other very few coffee shops around Surrey Quays is the staff. The guys that run the shop are incredibly friendly & polite, and will make you feel welcome whether you’re a local or just visiting from elsewhere - so lovely to finally have a local business with a neighbourhoody feel to it in the area.

Most definitely going back more often, and worth coming all the way from Greenwich to...

The coffee is nice at this place, I would usually get in the morning on my way to work. But, I tried their Turkish breakfast and was quite disappointed.

Turkish breakfast was served with the most simplest whited toasted bread with butter (not Turkish bread like Simit or fresh flatbread). I was only served 2 pieces of toast which were cut in half (4 small pieces). I asked for more bread, because 2 pieces of toast is not enough for a plate of Turkish breakfast. Normally you’d be served with extra bread at no cost, but I was charged extra for the extra toast. Which is fine, but quite petty. The whole loaf of bread probably costs £1.50, and I was charged additional £2 for extra toast (without warning) ! 😄

Customer service could be improved - whilst the breakfast wasn’t that great, (I’m a big lover of Turkish food and know how it tastes when done properly) the cafe could have offered the extra toast for free. I would have understood that this is a small caffe and maybe not trained well to make Turkish breakfast, but to be petty and charge for extra toast which clearly wasn’t enough is so trivial, and I certainly won’t be going back...

UPDATED TO REPLY TO OWNER. Very rude staff! Not at all helpful! AVOID AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! CALLED THEM TO CHECK WHERE OUR FOOD WAS AFTER IT SAID “on way” A RANDOM MAN SAID ILL CALL THE RESTAURANT AND ASK??? Surely your phone number should be displayed to the restaurant? Anyway he called back said the driver didn’t come another will

. I said but our food will be cold to which he replied “well that’s not our problem!!!” Disgusted already we had no choice but to wait AS WEVE PAID £25!!! Nothing arrived then a lady called and said just eat cancelled our order??? Nope!! Says on the account problem with the restaurant!! I’m absolutely disgusted they’ve taken our money and I even offered to collect the food so what a lie that is about the food was ready. I can only assume the restaurant accepted the order but didn’t have drivers available??? Surely cancel the order so we could order else where but nope the lady said it’s not there problem . ILL LET THE NEXT CUSTOMERS DECIDE WETHER TO WASTE MONEY ON THE CHANCE THEY “might” deliver it but if they don’t it’s not...

genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming—modern dĂ©cor with plenty of natural light and a calm vibe that’s perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. The coffee itself is outstanding. My flat white was perfectly balanced: smooth, rich espresso with beautifully textured milk and just the right temperature. You can tell they care about quality beans and precise brewing. They also have a great selection of pastries and light bites; the croissant I tried was buttery and flaky, a perfect match for the coffee. The staff deserve a special mention—friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations without being pushy. It really makes a difference when you feel like they enjoy what they do. Whether you’re a local or just passing through SE16, this place is worth a detour. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends.

Pleasant but underwhelming...this may come across harsh but I actually had a very enjoyable visit, however small details made me drop from a 4 to a 3, ..food :- see the picture this is a veggie breakfast, this has to be the smallest veggie breakfast I've had or it's a standard size but the plate makes it feel like your having breakfast on a budget. The food actually tasted very nice hence 4 stars but presentation counts, service was very good and friendly, but atmosphere was very lacking, didn't make me want to stay and enjoy my coffee instead I felt like changing to a takeaway to leave ...again I mean no disrespect as I did really enjoy my meal and would recommend to anyone fancying a nice breakfast meal in the area but I have to ask myself would I return...and I fear the answer is most likely no hence my rating 🙏

My friends and I visited this cafe today and the experience COULDN’T BE WORST. I order an oat flat white but they came with an oat latte. I told the waitress politely what I ordered but I got a response that I would never expected in a cafe - “LATTE AND FLAT WHITE ARE THE SAME”. I asked how they are the same?! She turned a cold shoulder to us. Finally she made another one for me but our day had been RUINED! If she wouldn’t have asked politely, that’s alright. But the trial to fool us with this ridiculous saying is unacceptable, I felt offended. Attached is the Oat Latte as well as the menu - where latte and flat white are two different items.
