Rise — Restaurant in London

I’ve been to Rise Café a number of times and have always found the food to be good. I work nearby and had recommended it to colleagues — but unfortunately, I won’t be doing that any more.

On several occasions, I’ve been made to feel quite unwelcome by one of the staff members — specifically the lady with the bob, who I believe is the owner. In contrast, the other lady with the longer, darker hair has always been friendly and professional.

One incident in particular stood out: my cab arrived earlier than expected, so I politely asked to change my tea to a takeaway tea. It was a straightforward and reasonable request, but the owner responded with clear frustration. Worse still, she then spoke about me within earshot of other customers, making it obvious she was annoyed. That sort of behaviour is unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable.

This hasn’t been an isolated experience — I’ve left the café feeling unwelcome more than once. It’s a shame, because the food is ok, but I won’t be returning, and I’ll no longer be recommending it...

WOW! Lively atmosphere, incredible hosts, great recommendations! The server with short curly brown hair is excellent at creating a welcoming environment where I could start my morning! Excellent tables with lovely interiors! The attention to dietary requirements was natural and tentative. The food itself was well balanced; delivering on excellent presentation but beyond exceptional taste. I had the veggie roll with chilli jam, and my partner had the lemon meringue french toast. Both paired exceptionally with the recommended potato hash !!!! There’s no other place I would take someone for breakfast in york than RISE !!! ✌️but again the entire serving staff are excellent and all deserve to be nominated for an award. Only one Lady seems snobby towards me notices always pretends to forget my name when asks me. Covid times she purposely wrote my name wrong. Same when I sat in she purposely forgets what I ordered messes it up. Soon as you speak engage moody look fake smile but lights up to who she likes. Not really customer service friendly. She must be owner. The other staff are not like that never make you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. The lacking in stars is her fault sadly due to my experiences and visits.
