With service this bad, you need amazing food, and the food was mediocre at best. Furthermore, half the staff were just standing/sitting around, and the other half couldn't understand English. It's no surprise that the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night, and I wish I had also avoided it. Firstly, we visited on a hot day and we were very thirsty, but we had to remind them 3 times for our drinks. By the time the drinks arrived, the starters and mains were already with us. Another couple came after us and got their drinks straight away, and their drinks were even more complex than ours. Moreover, one of the drinks was a canned drink, so I am unsure why it took so long to take a can from the fridge to our table. We also only ordered 1 can, yet they brought 2 cans. We asked for tap water at the beginning, but had to keep reminding them of this also. We also asked what marinade/spices the chicken dish was, and were just told it was medium multiple times. Clearly, the servers don't understand English. This is also shown when we ordered 1 portion of meat samosas and 1 portion of chicken samosas. The waiter handed 1 plate to me, saying this was meat samosas, and another plate to the other person, saying this was the chicken samosas. When we tried it, I had a chicken samosa and they had a meat samosa. It turns out they had put 1 chicken samosa and 1 meat samosa on each of our plates, even though we ordered separately and were told by the waiter mine was meat and hers was chicken. If one of us were allergic or unable to eat chicken/meat, what would have happened? Finally, to top it all off, when we asked for the receipt of payment after we paid, they just handed us a crumpled-up list of the items we ordered. They then gave us the wrong receipt, and finally, on the third time of trying, they gave us our correct receipt. Don't think I have ever seen such poor service at any other restaurant; almost everything we asked for had to be done three times just to get it correctly. If service is this bad during a non-busy period, imagine how bad it would be when it's busy and they are...
Read moreMy husband and I came from New Barnet to celebrate Eid at Royal Mahal. 1- it was mighty difficult to book places. The managers definitely should manage their IT much better for their own sake. I understand that due to popularity, management probably feels they need not to bother about making the reservation smoother. But as is, the BAD IT does not help with the reputation or the prestige of the company. I was told that we had to share our table. But on the day we had our own table for two very nicely. I expected many more delicious vegetarian hot food. Most of vegetarian foods though were cold salads; not a feather on the cap of Pakistani cuisines. My husband who is not vegetarian was happy with the food. I should praise the care of the members of staff: I have had done a major surgery a couple of weeks ago. When I booked the table for the buffet, I asked if there was any stairs. I didn’t receive any reply. But on the day when this was noticed at the restaurant, they immediately arranged for stair lift. Thank Goodness I didn’t need it and managed to go up the stairs. While we were in the queue, I got tired and sat on a chair that was on the way. Soon a young g man came and asked my husband if he was with me and then they took us to the front of the queue. This was a great help as I had to force myself to stand on my feet. I would like to thank care and diligence of all members of staff. They are really assets of the company. I wish I knew name of each individual - but in the short space of time I learnt two of the names that I would like to mention here: Afifeh عفیفه and Yaser یاسر. Right opposite the members of staff, IT and reservation procedures is really horrible and hope by the next time management...
Read moreThe menu offers a wide variety of dishes, catering to all tastes and preferences. From the moment you start with the appetizers, you can tell that every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. The samosas are perfectly crispy, filled with a flavorful mixture of spiced potatoes and peas, and served with tangy chutney that tantalizes your taste buds.
For the main course, the selection is impressive. The butter chicken is a must-try; it's creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor, paired beautifully with fluffy naan or fragrant basmati rice. The vegetarian options are equally enticing, with dishes like palak paneer and chana masala that showcase the vibrant flavors of Indian cuisine. The staff at Royal Mahal, including the exceptional waiter Mujeeb, are attentive and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend dishes and ensure your dining experience is enjoyable. Mujeeb take the time to explain the menu and offer insights into the different flavors and ingredients used in the dishes.
Desserts at Royal Mahal are the perfect way to end your meal. The gulab jamun is soft and sweet, served warm and soaked in syrup, while the mango lassi is a refreshing treat that complements the spices of the meal perfectly. Overall, Royal Mahal is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Indian flavors in a cozy and welcoming environment. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or on a special occasion, this restaurant promises a memorable experience that will keep you coming back for more. It's truly a hidden gem in London, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine and special thanks...
