The Royal Sandwich Bar is one of those quiet places in the centre of Edgware that is easy to pass by surrounded by various kabab shops BUT I would definitely ask anyone to try out the dishes on the menu.
I love many of the dishes traditionally but I had never visited this little gem, and I had the joy of picking up three different dishes...looking at reviews I decided to try the Vada Paw ( made up of spicy mashed potatoes filled with aromatic spices and covered in a batter which is than placed in between a burger bun topped with some traditional coriander and green chilli sauce green , a red chilli garlic sauce and a tamarind sauce and yet despite all this the bun was crispy. This was magnificent. I also purchased a paneer tikka sandwich (cottage cheese shallow fried in spices) topped with onions green chillis and other spices and toasted with a bonding of melted cheese.
The sandwich was mouthwatering excellent and the cheese had bonded everything together. Personally; "I prefer more heat or Spicer but again there was a deceptive infusion of spices that proved to be brilliant. The dishes I had really are filling.
To top it up the gentleman who served me was extremely polite friendly and has a very friendly atmosphere.
The prices are very reasonable and I would recommend anyone who happens to be in Edgware find this place on Station road to go in and try some of the dishes. I would recommend this place for lunch or tea family outing.
It is not often that I recommend a eating place whole heartedly ...I do recommend this one.... Parking is not an issue as the Broad walk shopping mall's parking is almost directly opposite.
Brilliant simple and down to earth. LOVE IT...
Read moreThis place is absolutely fantastic! I visited today with my partner who is French and he loves Indian food. In the search for something different yet close to my heart I was looking for a chaat place which is not too far from where we live. This is actually a little piece of simple, rustic, peaceful street food meets cafe meets bistro! Well to cut to the chase, the chef is a polite and sweet man and is extremely humble in relation to what he produces. Seriously, the potato chaat is AMAZING! starting from the pieces of round bready bits to the ying and yang of sweet, sour and hot everything just comes together to a click in your tongue. The pani puris are so fresh and not greasy and the tamarind chutney marries the mint sauce so well.....then we had sandwiches which were grilled to yummy perfection, again the side of royal masala fries did the sandwiches justice. The fries are crispy, non greasy and the addition of his concoction of masalas were an absolute "Chatpata" delight. It's hard to find such a gem of a place anywhere these days in London. Food made simple yet you desire to go back more and more. Last time I was here I had the Halloumi avo sandwich and surely I was not disappointed. The chef really does have quite a bit of magic in his hands! The glaze to the pudding is the masala chai, spicy and sweet but not too overwhelming to a typical English tea lover. To anyone searching for street food experience do visit this cafe and enjoy the quaintness of it all! Thank you guys,...

So Saturday morning ordered an Omelette filled sandwich and a Cappuccino.
First, the service was great. All staff friendly, etc. That was about it.
The sandwich was very bland, no taste or seasoning. I asked for a very small amount of ketchup. It was filled with so much ketchup it was coming out of the sides. I have attached a few photos.
The Cappuccino was all just milky. I had to add instant coffee just to get a decent taste.
Then there is the price. It’s nothing compared to what was on the website (website has now changed). It was way more. For the price I paid I expected much better. If I had this quality in Greggs I would’ve been disappointed. Expected much better.
All in all, very disappointed with the food & prices (even though this is...
