We booked this place after looking through something in local in Walthamstow area for one of our day outs. We wanted good Sunday roast and goodness we got it. We were shown into the back garden which has a lovely sunny sun garden and the restaurant throughout looked really nicely fitted. We started off with burrata and crab cakes. They were both good, but we had to order the flat bread after we received the starters - it would be nice if the waiting staff asked if we wanted bread when we ordered these as we didn’t think we needed them at the time of ordering but definitely worth something to soak up the sauce especially the crab one. The roasts were perfectly cooked and all the trimmings were also very nice. The juis was perfectly balanced with sweetness and saltiness. The complementary cauliflower and cheese was also delightful but it was a lot of food and we could only fit half of the portion so perhaps worth to share one starter between two if you go for the roasts due to the generous portions. Great local bistro and certainly one to recommend.

For such good vibes it was really disappointing :( The wine was tasty and the mushroom arancini was the highlight. We had to wait an hour for our mains (although every other table had gotten theirs…) and we both ordered the only veggie option which was aubergine. It was really hard and unseasoned which was a shame. We also got the apple tart for dessert and it just tasted of something burnt. Our waiter was really lovely but as a vegetarian, I just wouldn’t come back.

Came here with my family for my birthday as we’d seen it had recently opened. Lovely decor and chilled atmosphere. Bloody Mary was delicious with perfect spice! The roasts were amazing and the chicken schnitzel was HUGE (don’t know how my mud and managed to eat it all!) Service was also great. Will definitely be back to try their weekday menu!

Bang average, expensive food in a vague setting.

The starters we had were delicious but the main not so good. The sauce on the steak was horrible and it was drenched in it. We asked for mayonnaise for our chips which was served in paper cases which made us feel more like we were eating in a fast food joint, rather than quite an expensive restaurant.

The beer was overpriced considering it came in a can rather than a draught beer.

The waiter was also constantly chewing on something and the waitress was cold and verging on rude - there was a bit of a kerfuffle at another table over their order and she was barking things at the waiter which was quite unprofessional. When we were leaving she was going to the kitchen meaning we had to walk past her and she ushered us past her in a bit of a rushed and impatient manner.

The background music was quite grating and inappropriate for the setting.

Overall, we won’t...

My partner and I absolutely love coming to Ruffs it’s one of our favourite date night spots. We always feel so looked after by the staff who are incredibly attentive. The menu is small but every dish we’ve tried has always been 10/10.

We visited Ruffs on last night for one of our date nights, it was very busy night for them in the restaurant which is always good to see. The staff were clearly very rushed off their feet but this didn’t stop them from being their attentive and friendly selves as always. The food was 10/10 as it always is and we enjoyed the steak, chicken schnitzel, the starters were so fresh and summery.

We’ve really enjoyed having a restaurant back in the village since we lost E17 restaurant last year but it seems that Ruffs has changed hands and it was better before. But this wouldn’t stop us from continuing to visit as it’s lovely to have a place which doesn’t just...
