I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sahara Grill in Gants Hill, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and attentiveness by the waiter, Iqbal.
Iqbal's attentive service truly stood out. He was not only friendly and welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to explain the different dishes and made excellent recommendations based on my preferences. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure a delightful dining experience was truly commendable.

The flavors at Sahara Grill are simply outstanding. The dishes are rich in authentic spices and perfectly cooked to retain their juiciness and tenderness. If you're a fan of succulent grilled steaks then this is the place for you.
I must make a special mention of the new addition to the menu, the Herbi Wings. These wings are an absolute delight. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Read moreWalked in on a Friday evening and fortunately got a table for the 4 of us. Not sure how busy this place usually is these days, although I do recall this restaurant was particularly busy pre-covid.
We were promptly seated by a friendly staff member who was attentive and made suggestions on what to order to help out.
I ordered the ocean delight, which is a fillet of salmon doused in mushroom sauce that also comes with a couple of pieces of bread and some salad. I also got myself a Mango Frappe as my drink.
It did not take too long for the food to arrive. The portion was a decent amount, the salmon fillet was decent, lots of mushroom sauce, salad was fine although the bread seemed lacking.
Tasting the salmon, this was well cooked and is paired well with the sauce and is tasty.
The pieces of plain bread were fine, however there were not many pieces, which was a shame. The salad tasted fine for what it was, however it was not fresh and certainly could have been a lot better.
The mango frappe was cold and refreshing and has that mango taste, although you could also taste that it was not a fresh mango being used. Again, a shame.
Overall, this was a decent meal with a few oversights that stop it becoming a great meal. The lack of fresh ingredients used contributing to that. Interestingly, at the top of the menu it is stated that only fresh ingredients are used. The pricing doesn’t quite match with the food quality and portion - see image. The salmon was almost £16 and the frappe at almost £6. For me, these are prices for better and higher quality food whereas the food provided was more like a decent casual dining experience.
This is a decent place to visit as a one-off and not a bad option for on occasion meal if you are fine with a decent setting and casual food experience whilst also not being too concerned...
Read moreNot the Sahara Grill it used to be. Was the go to restaurant 10 years ago but not any more in my opinion. Took the wife and kids there on Sunday. Ordered buffalo wings and dynamite shrimp.. Both over cooked, hard and way too spicy. Kids got the chicken strips and mini chicken burger with curly fries which they demolished. Wife ordered the half chicken with coleslaw and mash and I ordered the lamb steak fillet with chips. My wife's half chicken was covered in masala and spices and was inedible due to the amount of spice on there. When asked, they said we needed to tell them we wanted mild as their chicken comes pre seasoned!? He changed the one piece that was left after struggling to get through the first. As for me, I asked for a medium well steak. They overcooked it and it wasn't medium well but rather, well done and dried out. I didn't complain as I don't like wasting food. The sauce on there was extremely spicy. So I ordered a lychee cocktail. Which was literally a glass of syrup. It was that sweet. I had to keep adding water to the glass to dilute it down. Was really dissapointed. Went to pay and was billed £100. Now I don't mind paying a premium for good food but this was extortion and definitely not worth it. To top it off, my wife and I have been on the toilet seat since Sunday with diarrhoea. Will not be going there again. Spend your hard earned...
