Surbiton Fish & Chips — Restaurant in London

I've been eating fish and chips for years, wouldn't exactly class myself as a connoisseur, but I definitely love my fish and chips and know the difference between good and bad quality. I haven't used Surbiton Fish and Chips for a couple of years now, because my route home from work has changed, but the other day when I had the opportunity to get takeaway fish and chips from this restaurant, I realised that I've been "putting up with/getting ripped off by" other similar restaurants for far too long because :

The service was incredibly friendly and on a personal level that I found both comforting and reassuring!

The lunchtime special offer of small fish and chips was without doubt the most generous portion in comparison to anywhere else.

The price was literally HALF that of equivalent local outlets and the quality of the food not just uncompromised by this, but in fact even better than other equivalent restaurants.

I no longer have any reason to go to any other fish and chips shops and now travel significantly out of my way to go specifically to Surbiton Fish and Chips.

Oh... and unlike some other F&C restaurants, they stay open till 2:30pm which I think also keeps even more people happy!

Good for hungry postmen on they're way home at 2:15/2:20pm!

My advice to all fish and chip lovers in the local area :

"Do not bother with any other fish and chips shops. Surbiton fish and chips is in a league...

Really bad. I ordered haddock supper, cod supper, and onion rings. The haddock still had its skin on and tasted old and fluffy, also the batter was wet and slimy on the inside and really flat and greasy. The cod was much better, but because they wrapped it inside a polystyrene tray the base of the batter became completely wet and slimy. Also the onion rings were really cheap tasting, chewy. The chips were average. When I phoned to complain I was told that I could have another cooked if I wanted. When I said I didn't want another and asked whether the haddock is really 'fresh' frozen and asked about the skin being on, I was told this was all normal. I have never seen any haddock with its skin on and in completly flat batter before in my life. Really horrible. I was offered a refund but would have to go back to the shop. I don't own a car and had made a special walk there and back, am now starving and really tired after being on a massive walk today. I just don't have the energy. It really, really...

Called in advance and placed our order. We have my beautiful mother and father in law staying with us who treated us to a take away from our local fish and chip shop. We had an awesome chicken, two tasty steak and kidney pies, a huge fish and three portions of chips. We also added mushy pies and curry sauce. As I write this, my mother in law just said they're the best mushy peas she had for a while 😊

Staff were very friendly, the restaurant is clean and tidy and as we ordered over the phone we had hardly to wait. There is also off street parking nearby should you need to drive.

You can also eat in with chairs and tables...
