This hidden gem tucked away in South West London's charming town - surbiton is an absolute MUST try. Whether its for a quick coffee on the go or a Saturday catch up with the girls Surbeanton provides high quality food matched with service. This local independent business is tastefully decorated satisfying all your Instagram needs.
However, what makes Surbeanton stand out is the high quality food. I opted for the 'cilbir' a classic Turkish breakfast made from poached cacklebean eggs lathered in a spicy garlicky yoghurt served with pesto bread. Another must try is the 'chicken wrap' all dishes are served with a house salad and cost between £5-12 per person affordable and completely worth it.
Surbeanton also sell a range of vegan alternatives including a special chocolate vegan cake. However, my favourite sweet treat of theirs has to be the carrot cake, which is served with a cream cheese frosting with 3/4 layers with a rich creamy texture.
Cannot wait to try this...
Read moreOur nearest / usual breakfast cafe was closed today so we tried Surbeanton - a place we had been meaning to try - for the first time. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. In their lovely calm atmosphere, I had an amazing shakshuka with a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and my 14 year old had an eggs benedict with a mug of hot chocolate. The egg yolks were fresh and beautifully orange, the shakshuka was clearly fresh-home made due to the chunky pieces of vegetables. My teenager loved his Benedict; everything about it was perfect and very tasty. Not only that, we wanted to take the orange juice back home so we asked for a takeaway cup. Unfortunately the cup broke when we tried to close the lid. The staff were very apologetic and attentive and made sure our clothes were not ruined from the orange juice… and they topped up the orange juice in a new cup! It is wonderful to see that we can still have a lovely thoughtful service in our local...
Read moreWell presented fresh food with a nice vibe and pleasant enough staff.
I ordered the Mediterranean breakfast for £13.75 which as the restaurant says, has everything you need. It's effectively a breakfast charcuterie board. Whilst it looks and tastes good, practicality wise it lacks enough bread to fully enjoy it.
You get only two very small slices of bread, which due to the nature of sour dough bread is very holey. If you decide to put jam on one piece of toast and honey on the other, that's it bread done. If your like me and like to dip your bread into the poached egg and enjoy with the ham with the cheeses then the bread just doesn't cut it.
I think for the price, and to fully enjoy, this should have a minimum of four slices of toast with an extra two at no charge if required.
All in all, one breakfast with extra bread and a smoothie and your pushing towards the £20 Mark. Unlikely to make this an everyday breakfast place but great for the...
