Hands down the best crepes I've ever had. We go fairly regularly, and the two of us split one savory galette and one sweet crepe, which is a perfect sized meal for two and hits all of the high points. A good friend introduced me to Ta'Turu, and now I've introduced many others and they've all fallen hard for it.
There are a couple important components I'd like to feature here:
The pistachio cream. It's unbelievable. It's sweet but also has a salty note to it. I know the nutella crepe is traditional, but don't sleep on the pistachio. I pretty much insist on it every time, and I've gotten many a Nutella fan converted to the wonderful world of pistachio.
Hot chocolate. I don't even like hot chocolate, but this is incredible. So chocolately, not overly sweet, and then made even more perfect with the dish of incredible whipped cream on the side.
The tea. This store has introduced me to the wonder that is Mariage Frere tea, and now I'm hooked and won't drink anything else. I love the rouge, but they are all delicious.
Last but certainly not least... the owner. Arthur pours his heart and soul into this beautiful restaurant, and it really shows. He is friendly and lovely and makes time to chat with everyone. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service are all incredible, but really, it's Arthur that makes...
Read moreThe galettes were really delicious but there were multiple critical gaps in the service. The complete galette is called Ta’Tony on their menu and was really delicious! There was a good amount of filling and the galettes themselves were crunchy and thin. I think they were both 100% buckwheat flower and they added a lot of wheat flower but it was delicious anyway. The menu they have on the wall and the menu they served us had different prices for the galettes (eg 26 vs 28 pounds for Ta’Normande) and service charge (12.5% vs 15%). The waiting time was outrageous for a galette place - it took us one hour from the time we got there till our galettes were served. The staff did not warn us in advance about such a huge waiting time and did not offer any apologies. They had only one cider option on the menu but they ran out of cider! The cappuccino was extremely hot - I burned my mouth. And it had cocoa on top, the milk was over whipped - very poor for the price. Overall the prices are over the roof in this place for the...
Read moreWe stayed in the neighborhood for a week and my family INSISTED we eat food from there three times. The sweet crepes were delicious and the savory galettes were also wonderful, with a wide variety of toppings/fillings to meet our various tastes. The cafe is intimate and very welcoming and tastefully decorated. We never ate in, and I think we missed out as the experience would have been very different, especially if we had taken advantage of their incredible tea selection. Arthur, the co-owner and chef, was extremely warm and genial without being overbearing. The place is quintessentially French, but there are definitely influences from around the world, especially Malta. I highly recommend Ta-Turu, and we will definitely visit next time we are in London, wherever we...
