Oh dear. I thought two brothers took over Heidi’s to create an amazing Tapas place?? I visited a few weeks back and me and my cousin were very disappointed with the main event in this place, i.e. the food! First of all it took a ridiculous length of time for the food to come out, (nearly an hour) and when it did it came in drips and drabs… we had to remind the staff we were waiting on certain dishes, but we could see we weren’t the only customers waiting. Too many orders and probably just one chef? Unfortunately what came out was not good. I was very disappointed by the chicken. It sounded delightful on the menu but was plain and lacked flavour. I did tell the staff at the end as most of it was left on the plate. They said they would take the feedback on board and didn’t look too surprised. They also looked knackered! The staff were courteous but you could see they could not keep up with the demand. I imagine that was the same with the chef. What is startling is this is a tapas restaurant so food should be the main focus… but the food was average to poor and took ages to arrive. Very disappointing. Even when Heidi’s focus was on making sure the wine was topped up, the second appeal was the food was efficient and delicious… what’s gone wrong with Tapajax?? Sadly as many a Balhamite knows this is not the most successful location for a restaurant to thrive, so the owners better take on this feedback (and others), get another chef in and more staff, open more regularly (I often see this place shut including on a Sunday?) and more importantly improve their menu otherwise I don’t see this place lasting long at all. I won’t be going back to eat...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. Booked months in advance for the Christmas set menu and was chased multiple times to pre order which we did as a group of 8.
When we arrived there were not enough seats, the staff were super busy. The three beers and coke we ordered took more than 40mins to arrive. Our starters were served 1 hr from sitting and our main was nowhere to be seen 1.5hrs into the sitting. We had to ask three times for water. The food when it did arrive was cold.
We were told there was a new chef and the restaurant was super busy but there were only three tables upstairs and one downstairs. What is more disappointing is that a table of “celebrities” were next to us who got served upon arrival and food came out quickly. This morning I have also seen on social media this was “gifted”.
The staff were amicable and whilst we offered to pay for drinks they said it was on the house. We actually asked to not have the main and cancelled the dessert. Such a shame as a lovely location and fun atmosphere. Will not be coming back...
Read moreSuch a shame - arrived and got a lovely table by the windows which were wide open so we were in the sunshine. We weren't rushed at all and the waiters were very pleasant however of the 5 of us, 2 ordered exactly the same burger, with extra bacon, except one of those came without. So we pointed this out straight away and were told they'd bring a separate order of bacon. We waited patiently for it but nothing came so we then asked another waiter but it still didn't come. So we asked again. We'd all finished our meals and my friend's burger was cold by the time the bacon came. We were told we wouldn't be charged for the bacon(!), but when the bill came it was on there so we had to point this out and get it taken off. The waiters were just not fussed about this poor service and the half-hearted apology almost made it worse. The food was fine - nothing special, and definitely overpriced for what you get - but you almost expect this in South West London, expecting the service to make up for it. It didn't, unfortunately. Won't...
