If only I could give 0 stars⊠first of all.. this pub is very discriminatory and abrasive against Deaf people. They explained that they had come and informed someone about not being allowed on the stage area and asked that this information be informed to the rest of the group.. as a hearing member of the group and as a fully qualified Interpreter, this had not been passed on to the full group (seeing as there was over 35 of us at one point, most of all were Deaf). and trying to explain to the staff the situation and only being given back attitude and aggressiveness from the so called âmanagerâ (now known as Billy/Billie); this information was not passed on to the remainder of the group (therefore unaware of the situation and rules that had been applied) according to a member of security named âKyleâ they had informed the group âseveral timesâ about the misuse of the stage.. however, upon feedback of the group.. this was not true and was not informed upon the entirety of the group. When the security came up explaining that we had to leave.. we were forthright confused as to why (seeing as this in fact had only been brought up to us for the first time). We imminently asked for the manager.. whereby we were instantly dismissed of our questions when asked why and reasoning behind the outcome.. I interpreted for my Deaf colleague who tried to approach with a calming and restorative approach.. only to be welcomed by aggression and dismissal both by the âmanagerâ and security staff. Upon continual dismissal of the staff when trying to explain Deaf awareness etc. we decided to leave.. although asking for the names of staff so we could confidently and comfortably put their names upon our complaint.. during this time the security gave us his name willingly, opposed to the âmanagerâ who refused to give us her name until we left.. when we did leave, we was given the excuse of âsheâs too busy to give her nameâ with another member of staff (all black clothing with black hair) informing the bouncers with a signal âhand across the neck, swipingâ to say the manger refuses to give us her name. Luckily my colleague was able to get her name after consistently asking. To which point the staff in all black with black hair got rude and raised her voice to me. This pub has completely lost respect our respect. It is a shame to express that this pub will forever be branded as discriminatory and this unacceptable behaviour will not...
Read moreWould not recommend for a party
My partner booked his 30th birthday party months in advanced at Hagen and Hyde, he requested to be outside for 30 people and queried if there could be a tv but was clear the preference was to be outside. A few weeks before he got a notification that his booking had been updated as they had a new system so he phoned to confirm that the booking was for outside - all was good.
On the morning of his party, it was a lovely sunny day and he was called to say there were no tables outside and the party would be inside due to âconfusion and mix upâ about wanting a tv, even though all the emails were clear that the main point was to be outside. Also how come at midday they suddenly realised? The main reason was the change in management apparently a few weeks before . It was explained there was only 1 table of 6 outside but there would be an area. It was made clear there was no way the booking could be honoured as there were no tables outside, despite the fact this booking had been made months in advanced for for 30 people, it was a birthday party and people had travelled to London to attend.
HOWEVER, when we arrive at Hagen and Hyde and shown the area (in the basement, no windows on a sunny day). We went outside to find at least HALF of the tables unreserved (which obviously had been taken by walk-ins) and a number of other large bookings had had their booking fulfilled. It was extremely frustrating and disappointing that they had all these unreserved tables and also why had our booking been the one sacrificed when it had been booked months in advance. Over time we managed to take over some of the unreserved tables but it was just so disappointing and very bad customer service. It seems as it was a sunny day they wanted more walk -ins and knew we would have to take what was given as they called us on the day...
Read moreI'm going to preface this with the fact that I've lived in the area since 2017 so Hagen & Hyde has been my regular for over half of a decade. I arrived on the evening of the 3rd February around 23:40 and queued up for a drink around the edge of the bar like many people were doing so. At one point an aggressive barman came round and made a point that a sign which was at the far end of the bar alluded to the fact that you shouldn't be queueing in that area but with no clear instruction on what to do or where to go. The people there stayed in the same place at which point someone plonked a water bowl for tapwater on the bar where I was stood and I was told to 'move' and 'get out of the way' again AGRESSIVELY by the man working behind the bar on the corner (check your CCTV.). He then continued to be aggressive which I responded that it was in appropriate to be speaking to a customer like that and that it wasn't clear what the issue was. I walked out of the premises immediatelt as a result to avoid an escalation in the situation and the individual continued to escalate the situation inside by having surrounding people "associated" to me removed.
I appreciate working in the hospitality industry particularly on a weekend is intense and your staff deal with incredibly difficult and inebriated individuals, however, I was neither of the above. I was stood in a queue waiting to order a drink and both of the people on your team that AGRESSIVELY communicated with me were completely unprofessional and inappropriate and the whole situation could've been avoided with some clear communication. Again, refer...
