If I could give 0 stars for this restaurant I would. My experience at the taste of raj from start to finish has been appalling.

On entering the restaurant my partner and I were met by waiter who stated that as we hadn't booked a table wed have to wait for 20 minutes for a table. Seconds later a couple entered the restaurant in the EXACT same circumstances, the waiter then attempted to seat them. When I questioned the waiter as to why they were being seated before us despite being in the same situation, the waiter began to stutter and make excuses which resulted in the other couple leaving the restaurant. Eventually the waiter led us to the back of the dingey restaurant and sat us at a table in a space no more than half a square meter, another customers meal had to be interrupted in order for me to take my seat!

The service in A&E is quicker than the taste of raj and the food is equally disgusting! Stale poppadoms, butter chicken had an entire tin of tomato soup as sauce (not yellow or buttery) and lamb korai was pure fat with foul taste.

To top off this horrible evening, we were charged almost £6 for 4 poppadoms and £8 for two flat cokes, to my amazement, the waiter who was unable to demonstrate basic numeracy and arithmetic attempted to charge us for service charge!

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE VIOLATED ORALLY AND...

Dropped by to pick up some samosas to mange on the heath. I specifically asked if there was chilli in the samosas. The waiter replied chilli? I said yes, even if it's chilli powder, is there any chilli? He said no, definitely not. I happily order. We wait a short while, head to the park and we eat. There are CHUNKS of chilli in the samosas! I have a chilli allergy!!! I show the two chunks and the waiter is in disbelief, gaslighting me and telling me no ma'am, that's not chilli. I was like "you eat it then and tell me if it is chilli or not". This conversation shockingly goes on for a few more minutes where I am having to still gesture and persuade to the man that this is a chilli imbued samosa. In utter disbelief, have no more trust for the man, continue to demand my refund and am astounded. For anyone with intolerances or allergies BEWARE. I've had to take antihistamines and thankfully I have a lot to hand. But seriously, this is shocking!!!!! Even with my chilli allergy my airways in the past have seized but has not been so severe in more recent times. I only think for a customer who has a moderate-severe allergy and that this restaurant will serve them harm. Just BEWARE. Also, just shocking further that there was no apology about getting it wrong, just continue gaslighting. I was left...

A Delightful First Taste of India at Taste of Raj – Blackheath Village

Our family’s first experience with Indian cuisine couldn’t have been better! Taste of Raj in Blackheath Village, right by the beautiful Heath Park, is an absolute gem. The restaurant has a simple yet elegant atmosphere that feels warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in.

The food was absolutely excellent rich flavours, perfectly balanced spices, and beautifully presented dishes. As first-timers, we really appreciated how our friendly and helpful waiter guided us through the menu, making recommendations that turned out to be spot on.

To top it off, the dessert was simply fabulous the perfect sweet ending to a wonderful meal!

It’s also a very family-friendly spot, with a relaxed environment that’s great for children. Location wise, it’s easy to get to with public transport, and there’s parking available nearby, making it stress free for families or groups.

If you’re looking for a place in Blackheath that offers amazing Indian food, welcoming service, and a comfortable setting, Taste of Raj is...

wanted to say a huge huge thank you to our waitress Mahima!!! she’s one of the best waitress’ ive ever had personally from dining out and checked in on us just enough so we could have a nice uninterrupted chat outside with my partner. we had ordered twice over the phone before, one for delivery and one for collection and we finally came to experience the food in branch. our dishes were amazing, well presented and we were full and satisfied by the time we left the venue. big thank you to the chefs working hard in the kitchen, the quality of the food is honestly amazing you cant fault it.

Intimate Indian restaurant in the heart of Blackheath; popular by locals and often visited by regulars. Delivering great customer service -- Zakir was friendly and attentive -- and serving flavourful dishes! Never been a bread fan, but the garlic naan was exceptional -- so soft and smelt divine! *TIPS: 1. Place often busy so best order to takeaway and (weather permitting) enjoy in the park, or at home 2. Not sure what to get? The Chicken Tikka Massala was lovely with Pilau rice; decent portions for the price

Maybe the best Indian restaurant around? Absolutely delicious food, lovely fresh, clean flavours, a team step up from many of the genetic Indian restaurants all around London. Every dish was superb, we didn't want the meal to end! Fantastic Pashwari naan, made and cooked to perfection. And all the staff are just so lovely and friendly... We even got a complimentary whiskey at the end of our meal. Very reasonably priced for t high quality of food. Had immediately become a firm favourite restaurant!!
