The place is lovely I have to be honest I come here probably 5 times and checked various plates and observed how the place is managed the menu etc So I have to say the place improved over the years increasing the items on the menu and also well done originally they had a very small cheese plate now the cheese plate is outstanding very generous portions that hard to see in LONDON Menus improved added few traditional French plate such as bourguignon Well done guys major improvement and this is also confirmed by Well cleaned wine glasses and the place is lovely and cosy One side note for you being a sommelier I would recommend to improve your wine glasses quality You have a nice wine glass to some table but not to everyone and being a wine French place you should make sure you provide the right glasses and avoid the horrible cheap cantina glasses see picture

I have been a regular at Le Bar à Vin and have even celebrated several of my birthdays there (combined with the Guy Fawkes fireworks). I have to say it seems to have improved significantly. I have been told the French manager was on maternity leave and that it had been taken over by a local couple. Our waitresses, the last few times have been nice, which was a relief. Some managers had been particularly abrupt in the past. I persisted on going because I am French and love the atmosphere with some French music in the background. The Food is French too and similar to what you could find in France. The first floor room has been refurbished and it will be nice to sit there once indoor dining is allowed. A good cosy wine bar in Blackheath.

This bar has just been taken over by a lovely couple. I was made to feel so welcome with some really refreshing customer service. The wine and cheese boards remain as good as they ever were and the new comfy outdoor seating was just what the doctor ordered after working at home all day. This place looks pretty swanky but it's not pretentious at all. I would highly recommend this place for an alfresco glass of wine and delicious French sharing plates. Thank you and good luck with your new venture!

Deeply disappointed with food and service! Boeuf bourguignon arrived cold, contained greasy meat and 1 mushroom, covered with some potatoes. We were also overcharged by 10 pounds. The only things that were fine were ambience and wine. They have a great selection. My friend specifically asked for a table by the window on the ground floor. She had booked it weeks ago. There are 2 tables by the window on the ground floor. We were told we couldn't have the one that has more space for 2 people to be seated because it was reserved. Instead we were seated right by the front door that opened an inch next to my seat every time someone entered or left. When another customer asked about the table a while later he was allowed to sit there because the table was booked for later on in the evening. We could have been seated there ! Very poor customer service tonight . I think the place is a good choice for wine and nibbles but I wouldn't recommend it after my...

Everything was nice, but 12% (or 12.5%?) service for saying hello and bringing us two glasses and a carafe of wine feels like too much. (Also, when I asked to pay the bill, the server immediately brought over the card machine, so I went straight into paying mode and only saw the service as I was tapping my card. I know I could've refused to pay the full amount (and instead dropped down to a perfectly reasonable 10%), but instead I would rather complain about it in this review.

For the record, I invariably happily pay 10% and normally more, I just hate the ratcheting increase, and the hope/expectation that you'll be too embarrassed to cause a fuss and so pay the extra.

(Also we went here years ago, and just as we were clearly about to sit down at a table, someone who was either a regular or friendly with the staff, jumped in at our table first. Great place if you're a regular, but not very inviting for...
