Just had a quick dinner today since we live in the neighborhood and drove past this place everyday. Extremely disappointed with the services we experienced. Our host was extremely rude and unbothered since the minute I have arrived at the front of the restaurant. He bluntly took our order without paying any attention. Occasionally walked off mid ordering and came back bluntly to continue taking our orders. I pointed at the dishes that we wanted and my husband trying to repeat the order with him.
Well he missed my husband’s order and did not come to even check if we got everything or if we are satisfied with our order. Weird enough when we asked him about the missing dish after about 20mins of waiting, he started to argue with us that we did not order the missing dish and proceeded to bluntly place a completely different order like Carbonara for us when it was actually the table beside us that ordered the carbonara…
We corrected him and asked for the correct order and at this point my husband was not happy with his service since the host/waiter was being extremely sarcastic. To top it off he sarcastically said to my husband that “Don’t worry DARLING, your food is coming” and walked right off. We found this shockingly unprofessional of him
When we asked for the bill, the same guy dropped off the bill and told us he removed the dish that came later. But since our experience was quite bad and the way we were spoken to was very rude and abrupt. We request him to remove the service charge. And of course he replied “But we removed the pasta for you already”. I told him that it was his attitude mainly that cause the removal of service charge and that calling my husband Darling wasn’t appropriate and very unappreciated.
He then walked off to the bar, started to gossip with the bar tender then came back to say that the food was on the house. I mean Thank you for that but it still doesn’t justify this man behavior towards us. Surely as a restaurant with over 1K+ reviews, you should already have clear step of services and better...
Read moreOverpriced for what you get, I’ve had lunch in high end restaurants in West End for less. Star of the lunch the wine and the Tiramisu tris. Fritto misto very disappointing, we were expecting what was written on the menu but the the items on the dish were changed without even letting us know. Focaccia prosciutto e stracciatella, the dough was fantastic, crispy and thin… like in Rome, the prosciutto was good… the stracciatella wasn’t stracciatella but mozzarella and £20 for a ham and mozzarella focaccia is definitely too much. Spaghettoni alla Carbonara, a waitress got our order to the wrong table and we had to wait absolute ages. When we eventually got them they were good but there was no Pecorino cheese on them, we had to ask for it and when we got it pasta was cold. The lamb ribs were good, the quality of the meat was very good, same that you find in Grappelli but the meat was over cooked, the demi glace ruined the taste of the meat and the roasted potatoes were not roasted but fried. Broccoletti were not broccoletti but misticanza and was really overcooked and soggy, no trace of either garlic or chilli. The salad was fresh but it was Grana shavings and not Parmigiano. The Tiramisu tris was very nice but the classic was the best. Coffee it was UNDRINKABLE, I would have expected to be taken off the bill. Our waitress Silvia was very nice and friendly but she probably went on her break because we saw her back when we were almost leaving… everyone else was not really up to decent standard, especially when they charge what they charged us. Conclusion, was it good? Decent but nothing special, not to justify the £285.75 bill. Items very overpriced for the quality they bring to your plate. Was it worth it or is the fame of the restaurant within the Italian community justified, absolutely not. Would I go back? Maybe just for a pizza if I’m in the area but would not specifically travel there...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Taverna Trastevere, a Roman restaurant in London, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! This charming establishment not only serves incredible food, but also captures the essence of Italy, making you feel right at home.
Let's start with their signature dish, the Calcio e Pepe pasta. Oh my goodness, it was a taste sensation! The pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente, and the combination of pecorino cheese and black pepper created a heavenly symphony of flavors. It truly transported me back to the streets of Rome.
Now, let's talk about the antipasti. The meatballs in tomato sauce were out of this world, bursting with rich and savory flavors. And the Battuta di Fassona, a raw beef tartare, was a true delicacy. The supplì, those delightful rice balls filled with gooey mozzarella, were absolutely exceptional. And let's not forget the arrosticini, tender skewers of grilled meat that were simply divine.
Not only is the food at Taverna Trastevere top-notch, but the staff is also incredibly professional and welcoming. I would like to extend my gratitude to Roberto and Simone, two pillars of this Italian restaurant, for making my dining experience truly memorable. Their warm hospitality made me feel like I was surrounded by family.
And last but not least, the desserts! You absolutely cannot leave Taverna Trastevere without trying their tiramisu. It was light, creamy, and had just the right balance of coffee and sweetness. Each bite was a little taste of heaven.
In conclusion, Taverna Trastevere is a gem in the heart of Clapham Junctions. It not only satisfies your cravings for authentic Roman cuisine, but it also makes you feel less homesick. The combination of outstanding food, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere creates an experience that is truly unforgettable. Grazie mille, Taverna Trastevere! You have...
