St John’s Tavern — Restaurant in London

The Canadian manager in this bar is a really nice guy- but the barmaid today was rude and standoffish/ considering I’ve talked to her before and she was really friendly- what’s with the change in attitude- on top of that she charged me 8..65 for a jd and Coke Zero when just last week it cost me about £7 for same order- very confused and annoyed with the barmaids change in attitude- what I did to her to be like this who knows but not good service when I was just being friendly- sorry This is an addition 30/09/25 I went into St John’s hill tavern last saturafay with a friend- and I mentioned this review - we were buying same drinks for each other and have an hour later we showed each other our bank accounts to see what we had been charged- he was charged £12 and me £13.50- for the same drinks- which we were both shocked at I just today saw the Canadian manager on the street- and asked him nicely about this- he was very aggressively assertive He said that I had made two bartenders feel uncomfortable- if I have in the past why not just ban- but no I was still allowed into buy drinks- very confusing He then tried to bribe me saying if I changed my negative review for a better one he would sort me out with a few free drinks I am sorry I don’t do bribery- I am a man of principle Once again I pointed out he was being quite aggressive- he said you can call the police if you want Instead of addressing the random charging policy he tried to blame me saying I want everything my way And said I shouldn’t have put that review up I’m sorry we live in a democracy and that is my right to put a review up of my experiences and I won’t be bribed to change it I have reported this matter to citizens advice bureau and trading standards No amount of aggressive intimidation- blaming me instead of taking responsibility or bribery will make me change my review I have to add I change my mind about the Canadian manager as bribery and assertively aggressive intimidation doesn’t sit...

‘The Harrowing Halloween’

I’d like to begin by saying that the pub itself along with most staff were a joy, they offered a wide range in n tap and spooky cocktails along with great decorations! But sadly the service i and a the party I was with which had booked was beyond bizarre. Upon our arrival when my friend inquired about our booking, we were met with a hard no. Taken aback by this, as the pub was not busy and we obviously had booked and had confirmation of doing so the manager on hand thrashed around his hands that we had not booked and I honestly have no clue as to why this was, if we were at fault in anyway I would not be writing this as I’m not one to call the kettle black but honestly, this managers hostility was despicable, the level of arrogance at our obvious shock at this display in a pub where we should be welcomed, he threatens to kick us out, we at no point raised our voices or did anything other then question where this assault came from. We were offered free drinks for one of our party because of this. If they had done this by accident , we would not have minded, mistakes happen. But to arrive at this or any establishment to be met with ‘no’ was so very strange. Needless to say I hope your experience is not like this. This manger later returned to our party in order to antagonise us more -in what world this man was trained in levels of customer experience I will never know. But it certainly wasn’t ours. I would like to say this pub was great. But sadly the manager as of October 2022 leaves us no choice but to make sure you avoid this establishment...

Really don't bother, low quality craft beer (think camden, portabello, belleville etc. Wetherspoons offerings at high prices). £4.50 for a lime and soda (yep) 20 inch pizza was actually 16 inches (and £29), over 1 hour waiting. What could be a good concept made to be a rip off with low quality food, overwhelmed (but pleasant) staff and rubbish "craft" beer. The staff do their best but this is clearly suffering from penny pinching higher ups and poor ownership/management. Save your money for a real craft/independent offering. This place let's down an otherwise sterling high street. Might as well go to...
