Had high expectations coming here as a colleague had been here the day before and praised it but.. when I arrived the doors were wide open and the traffic noise coming through was louder than the background music and very off putting for the whole evening. The starter of mixed kebabs the lamb was nice but the chicken was very dry and without flavour. I noticed for my main they had one of my favourite curries Kashmiri Chicken on the menu and ordered that. I have this from my local restaurant in Cwmbran called the Tamarind, but the dish that was served to me at the curry leaf was bland, nowhere near the delicate and complex flavours I am used to and I was very disappointed. I had the keema rice and peshwari naan with my main which were fine. My work mate who was with me had the chicken madras and said it was ok but nothing special. The service was ok, we were given hand wipes at the end of the meal which were in packets and stone cold, and something to note is that it's a bring your own alcohol policy here, which I understand and didnt bother me. I'm sure this place with it's very high review score is a lot of peoples cup of tea, but I'm afraid it fell...
Read moreBooked in for a table of 7 on Friday evening as a Christmas do with friends, and when we entered, our table, squished between 40 lads on a rugby social and another table of 6, would’ve been too small for 4 six-year-old children, never mind 7 adults. The waiter then said when the table next to us were finished (said to be soon), we could have their table. They hadn’t even received their mains yet, so we’d probably have been waiting about three hours given the amount of food going to the table of 40. We decided to leave, and when we asked for our deposit back on the table, the waiter initially refused, ‘shooing’ us away like you would to an annoying dog on Christmas Day. We persisted with this, then the waiter asked why were complaining, as other tables were forced to ‘cram around’ their tables too. Given that our table was more compact than the Northern Line at 5pm, the waiter’s whataboutery was baffling. We left, deposit finally repaid, wading through a horde of rugby lads on their social, with our Christmas Do in tatters. Nice one Curry Leaf,...
Read moreI visited last night with my parents and was very impressed! Food: excellent quality and you could tell it was all freshly cooked rather than sauces from a bottle. Generous helpings of meat as well rather than a couple of pieces and lots of sauce.
Also I have an onion allergy (annoying in most restaurants but a nightmare in an Indian!) and they were very happy to cook things from scratch without onions which was great!
Service: Very polite and attentive.
Other: I ordered a Tonic Water and as they opened a new large bottle for me they gave my table the rest of the bottle free of charge as it would've gone to waste otherwise which was very generous.
The decor is a little dated but that didn't detract from a brilliant meal and excellent service!
Thank you very much; I will be...
