Tavernaki Portobello is a hidden gem on the bustling Portobello Road in London, offering a taste of authentic Greek cuisine in a charming and lively atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the warm hospitality of the staff and transported to the heart of Greece. The restaurant's décor is simple yet elegant, with whitewashed walls, terracotta tiles, and traditional Greek lanterns, creating an inviting and welcoming ambiance.

The menu at Tavernaki Portobello features a wide array of traditional Greek dishes, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I started my meal with the feta cold appetizer, which was a refreshing and flavorful delight. The feta cheese was creamy and tangy, perfectly complemented by the Kalamata olives and fresh vegetables.

For my main course, I opted for the lamb and chicken skewers, which were cooked to perfection and seasoned to perfection. The lamb was tender and flavorful, while the chicken was juicy and succulent. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness.

To top off my meal, I indulged in the baklava, a classic Greek dessert that is always a crowd-pleaser. The flaky layers of phyllo dough were filled with a sweet and nutty filling, and the honey syrup added a touch of sweetness.

Tavernaki Portobello is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and lively atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of authentic Greek cuisine in London. Whether you're a seasoned Greek food enthusiast or a curious newcomer, Tavernaki Portobello is sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more.

Overall, I highly recommend Tavernaki Portobello to anyone looking for a truly authentic Greek dining experience in London. The food is exceptional, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. With its lively location on Portobello Road, Tavernaki Portobello is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the vibrant Greek culture and enjoy a truly...

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth, hospitality and humour by the amazing staff, who truly made us feel like family.

The Greek cuisine served here is nothing short of exceptional. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and made with the utmost care. One dish that stood out to me was the honey feta filo. The combination of the crispy filo pastry, the creamy feta cheese, and the drizzle of honey on top was a match made in culinary heaven. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and I found myself savoring every bite.

The quality of the ingredients used in each dish was evident, and it truly elevated the overall dining experience. The flavors were authentic and reminded me of the incredible Greek food I had while traveling in Greece. It was clear that the chefs here take great pride in their craft and pay attention to every detail.

What truly made this dining experience exceptional was the impeccable service provided by Alex. His friendly demeanor and genuine passion for his job were evident, and it made our time at the restaurant all the more enjoyable.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a charming Greek-inspired decor that transported us straight to the Mediterranean. The attention to detail in the ambiance added to the overall experience and made us feel like we were dining in a traditional Greek taverna.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The delicious and tender Greek food, particularly the honey feta filo, combined with the exceptional service from Alex, truly made for a five-star dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Greek cuisine or looking to try something new, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Trust me, you won't be...

I visited with my boyfriend at 7pm on Friday to celebrate our anniversary. I had been following the restaurant on Instagram for about a year and had high expectations from what I had seen online. We were given a lovely little table in the back, underneath a tree, which made the spot feel intimate in an otherwise vibrant atmosphere. Our waiter and all of the other staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. We ordered some crispy fried squid and a type of sausage as starters, which came very quickly and were delicious to share. The real stars of the show were the main courses, however. My boyfriend ordered the meatballs and I ordered the kleftiko, having heard good things from others. Again, both arrived quickly and I was blown away by the absolutely delicious slow cooked lamb dish. We finished up with the kormos and portokalopita for dessert. I'm usually underwhelmed by restaurant desserts but wow these were something else! I'd love to try making one of these myself at home but I don't imagine I could do it justice. The chefs here are making pure magic. All in all we paid just under £40 each, which felt like a bargain for some of the most delicious food in London. While I don't have much Greek food to compare to, I can only assume that this is the real deal as we could hear many of the other guests were Greek themselves. We're already planning to come back soon, and I'll be recommending this place to...

Delicious food that was really authentic to Greece. I’m from Athens and it was a lovely way to have a nice meal to connect with home. The atmosphere is also very calm and pretty with kind and friendly staff. Would recommend for anyone missing home in Athens or wanting to get a taste of Greek food in London.

I went to Portobello Road on a date with my boyfriend and we decided to enter this place for dinner, which looks really cute from outside. The place has a few tables, but it's not really big and the space between tables is quite narrow. It is still very cute inside. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but it didn't take that long, considering it was Sunday at dinner time with no reservation - I would recommend to book in advance to go to this place if you want to make sure to get a table on the weekend. It is a Greek restaurant and the menu looked really good. Unfortunately, they didn't have the main that I wanted to try - some aubergine with beef and bechamel - but what we ordered was quite good. The waiters were all very kind, even when the place was really busy and small and it can be quite stressful. Overall, it was a nice experience for a date, cute place, nice food, and the price was not too bad, average in London, almost £40 pp for two mains, starter and wine, so I would recommend it for an occasion if you fancy trying some Greek food.
