The Bakery — Restaurant in London

I had a bad customer service experience here...went in with my young son and nephew, they were taking a while choosong what they wanted as kids do...a lady behind the counter had irritably asked twice what she could get me, after answering her twice I thought she probably hadn't heard me (I was wearing a mask) so I looked her in the eye and repeated for the third time that we wern't ready, she glared at me, slammed down a tray she was carrying onto the counter right in front of me and stormed away from the counter. Rude and unnecessary in front of kids...as well as a slightly commical and dramatic reaction...I wanted to go elsewhere but the kids wanted to stay. I've used the bakery for years and always liked it, deliberately avoiding the nearby chain-store coffee place in favour of an independent business. Not any more. Customer service matters, and i'll go for a chain store with polite service over an independent with poor service. A shame as some of the ladies working there are...

Today I went to buy a bread roll and the lady who served me took the bread with barehand (This is in COVID times). I couldn't believe it, but was so shocked that didn't say anything and paid (my bad, I shouldn't have). When I got home I felt so bad for not saying anything. I didn't want to leave a bad review here neither as I know this are tough times for business and I have my own business, so I decided to call and speak with the manager. A lady picked up the phone and told me there was nobody there and hung up . Now, I am pretty frustrated. This should not be happening, managers needs to make sure their employees are following government guidelines and keeping a good hygiene practices at all time to protect customers. NO buying...

The Bakery is a wonderful bakery run by amazing people! The team are so welcoming and the environment is so homely. The team are so accommodating to the needs of the customer and the choice of baked goods is great! We got some cookies, brownies and flapjacks for our weekend away - they were all soooo delicious!
