A Second Chance That Fell Short – Filthy and Unprofessional
I visited the Blue Olive restaurant twice, with a 15-year gap between visits. The first time, my wife was served undercooked chicken that was later returned charred, and we were still charged for it despite the poor experience and not eating it. I vowed never to return, but after hearing the restaurant had changed ownership, I decided to give it a second chance on Monday, July 14th, 2025, 15 years later. Unfortunately, the experience was even worse.
Upon arrival, we noticed the restaurant was filthy. The table was sticky, the granite display next to us was covered in grime, and the floor was littered with food debris. When I politely brought this to the attention of the man I believe was the owner, his response was dismissive and unapologetic. He claimed the dirt was from the street and that he had cleaned in the morning, but the grime on my finger and the sticky table told a different story.
When I expressed that we couldn’t eat in such conditions, he responded with “Who are you?” in a belittling tone. His lack of professionalism and refusal to address the issue left us with no choice but to leave. We walked across the road to another restaurant.
I cannot comment on the food this time as we did not stay to eat, but the state of the dining area and the owner’s attitude were enough to deter us. I would strongly advise others to think twice before dining here. The lack of cleanliness and customer care is unacceptable. You have...
Read morepassing so we thought we would give it a try. It was Saturday evening ,but they managed to find us a table. The restaurant is very loud ,so chatting is difficult. We had a mixed platter of dips to start which was very tasty as they usually are. For the main I ordered a lamb kebab with salad. The kebab itself was very small and made up of fat and gristle which was inedible and had to be removed from my mouth. The salad was soaked in vinegar and salt and obviously wet. In the salad they put olives which still have the stones in nearly fracturing my tooth. We decided not to chance any deserts .The meal came to £55 which i paid .On leaving i said to the manager that the meal was a disaster for the reason i just described ,but there was no apology , instead he said his Cypriot customers like fat in their lamb kebabs. i also suggested he serve olives without stones which again he said his Cypriot customers liked the stones, he then walked away joking about the stones in the olives to his coworkers. I have had countless kebabs in the past so i know a good one from a bad one. If you like good food ,i would give this place a miss Totally...
Read moreIn the past I’ve been here a fair few occasions and had a really nice meal, however I dined here recently for Father’s Day and received a very poor experience. At first, they had run out of our top 2 choices for dinner. Secondly, they brought one starter out extremely late after the others, in which we had to keep asking them for it. Thirdly, five minutes before our main meals arrived (which was a long time after we had placed the order) they told us that they only had one veggie moussaka left, and not the two that we had ordered, and pushed us to accept the alternative which was stuffed vegetables. This turned out to be sloppy, tasteless and quite horrible actually. They also didn’t bring our side order of chips that we had asked for, to top it off. We were charged for the alternative and the chips that never came, we managed to get the chips off the bill at least. It’s a real shame to say as we’ve had good experiences in the past, but on this occasion we had a really poor...
