🚇 Upton Park 🍺 £5.40 Pillars Pilsner ❤️ One of London’s most majestic pubs. . The Boleyn Tavern is located on the junction of Green Street and Barking Road in East Ham. The nearest tube is Upton Park which is a five minute walk away. This pub is just a stone’s throw away from what was West Ham’s old stadium the Boleyn Ground, opposite the pub is the World Cup Sculpture celebrating Englands win in the 1966. . This pub was built in 1899 and is Grade II listed. This pub is a magnificent four storey structure which underwent a recent £1.5m renovation and reopened in June 2021. This pub is run by Remarkable Pubs who own some of the finest pubs across London. . The aim of the refurb was to restore this pub to its original Victorian Gin Palace grandeur and boy have they done an amazing job. The original seven bars have been reinstated and are divided by stunning wooden and etched glass screens. At the centre of all this grandeur is the horseshoe bar which has exquisite wood detailing and columns. At the rear of the pub is a striking dining area which has a breathtaking glass canopy. Throughout the pub our homages to its West Ham United’s heritage. . The beer line up is vast and diverse with 25 brews to choose from. After a bit of a wander around the taps I decided on a pint of Pillars Pilsner which is brewed by @pillarsbrewery in nearby Walthamstow. I really enjoyed my beer and price point was good. The food menu is all about pub classics, Fish & Chips is very reasonably priced at £13.50. This pub has a strong roast game on Sundays. . I visited midday on a Friday afternoon, there were a dozen or so punters dotted around the various bars. The atmosphere was relaxed with a eclectic funky soul soundtrack playing in the background. The service was good, the lady behind the bar was nice and had everything under control. . This pub used to be a massive footy pub and a bit rough around the edges. Much like other pubs around football grounds across London, these pubs have had to improve their offering to customers who visit on the other thirteen days until the next home match or they won’t survive. . The @boleyntaverne6 is an absolutely magnificent boozer and one I won’t forget in a hurry. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

UPDATE: this establishment is getting reviews deleted and claiming their spam, not a shred of accountability in sight. these reviews are real, real experiences, real scenarios that people endure whilst visiting here. DONT. BELIEVE THEIR REVIEWS, THEY GET NEGATIVE ONES REMOVED

I would give 0 stars if I could… me and my partner came here to eat and witnessed nothing short of a disgusting scene. there was a lovely family next to us whom we were chatting with, and a gorgeous little girl playing by the table. The manager, whom has stated his name to be ‘Oliver’ was continually giving dirty looks and whispering and making remarks whilst looking in the families direction. They brushed this off, even though I found this to be appalling from a manager. But it gets worse! He turned around and shouted at one of the children to “shut up now”! A one year old child!!!! The child before was very excited, and became very scared and upset after this altercation. It was genuinely heartbreaking to see which is why i felt the need to leave this review, the children were bundles of joy and were so happy up until this, I cannot understand how people could be so cruel? I don’t understand where ‘Oliver’ thinks he is the manager of, but it’s not a silent disco! After this, me and my partner promptly left and will never be returning. I am so appalled, there was not even any kind of apology or remorse to the family, ‘Oliver’ was being argumentative and telling them to get out and giving them dirty looks.

This pathetic excuse of an establishment need to take a good look at the people that they recruit to represent their business, I suggest that HR take a long and hard look about forking out some more money for a decent bunch of...

An absolutely STUNNING and totally unexpected gem of a find as we were on our our way to a MISSION for our fanatical DR. WHO fan daughters to the WHO STORE just down the street. This tedious chore turned into an amazing historic, visual and gastronomic pleasure which made the trek totally worthwhile!!!! I am not anywhere knowing about British football (except through TED LASSO and WELCOME TO WREXHAM) and had no idea that UPTON PARK was the UNDERGROUND stop closest to the Green Street and Barking Road intersection of the statue honouring the 1966 FIFA champions WESTHAM lead by their captain Bobby Moore. But I digress. We walked into THE BOLEYN TAVERN and were greeted by a lovely and so accommodating lady behind the bar (....and I am SOOOO sorry I do not remember her name...) who gave us a tour of the place. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!! A terrific story of the old stables and palace where Anne Boleyn used to stop before her clandestine trips to randy HANK VIII while he was still married to Catherine of Aragon......yaddy...yaddy..... Apparently the present owners bought this place ....during COVID...and pumped over a million GBP into refurbishing it...and it is a treasure to behold. When I finally finished taking copious pictures of this architectural splendour we sat down to some delicious beers and a spectacular meal from the kitchen. Again, so sorry that I cannot remember what we had but we BOTH commented it was THE memorable meal of our 9-day trip to London...and MUCH better than our anniversary dinner latter that night at THE SAVOY!!!!! Thank you to the lady of the bar, CHEF and the kitchen for making this trip one of our cherished...

We came here the day after they re-opened having had a £1.5 million refurbishment. The interior is fantastic, offering a pleasant atmosphere with tons of late Victorian/Edwardian East End character. We ate a meal in the Billiards Hall which boasts a stunning stained glass roof and wonderful table booths. Whilst the menu could offer more variety, the food was decent but in need of a little fine-tuning. I think they will get this with more feedback and practice. Drinks were lovely though and perhaps a little more expensive than other local pubs but it's obvious, they are keen on a more affluent clientele here which is understandable. I would highly recommend coming here for the experience. Staff were attentive and friendly. We're going back for Sunday dinner! Edit: Since my initial review, we have visited several times seeing as this is our local. I just wanted to add (including the photos) the Sunday roasts are to die for. Really worth coming here just for those. No, seriously! Edit 2: Since my updated review, visited here again for Sunday roast recently and whilst the staff remain pleasant and attentive, the food quality has taken a massive nose-dive. Really limited menu on Sundays and the food like roast potatoes seemingly reheated or left for quite some time and served.
