I would have rated this 0stars but unfortunately had to select one to be able to provide this review! The staff are disgustingly rude the more you order the more rude they become we left two spring rolls as nobody liked them we was told you “no you haven’t finished” when we went to order more they was very reluctant to serve us more. The aromatic crispy lamb even though the portions they were serving were tiny for a table of 9! They became increasingly rude huffing puffing and told us you haven’t ordered mains yet “maybe you need to think about saveing your self some space your eating a lot” at this point we had only ordered two portions which were tiny of the aromatic lamb it made us feel very very uncomfortable they brought a small sauce pot of satay sauce out between nine of us we asked if we could have another please they huffed puffed rolled there eyes and reluctantly brought one out. The staff member dropped a plate whilst she was aggressively clearing the table because we had ordered more starters and she wanted us to move onto the mains before we were ready she cracked a glass we didn’t noticed the glass had cracked untill she walked away on return she shouted at us “you will have to pay for that” even though we had informed her it happened when she had dropped the plate as she was clearing the table she continued to shout at us rolling her eyes shouting and pointing in her language to her colleague. I was with my autistic son and neice both of which are very fussy eaters all they would eat is plain chips this had never been a problem in the past with the old owners, in the beginning when we had said only 7 are eating from the buffet menu they had a massive problem with this too they called over a member of staff speaking in there language pointing at my son and neice and they proceeded to have a member of staff at all times standing over our table watching the two children who would only eat chips at all times to make sure no food touched there mouths other than the chips,my neice got up to use the toilet with my daughter after a few minutes of them being in the toilet the staff member actually proceeded to open the door that leads to the toilets and shouting at her colleague whilst doing this it was as if she was checking to make sure my neice wasn’t eating anything in secret in the toilet the service and the way they made my family feel so uncomfortable that night we will never be returning after looking at the reviews today I can see we arnt the only family that have been made to feel this way it’s disgusting unnessecery and very very unprofessional my daughter loves Chinese and this is the place we chose to take her for her birthday I will never be returning!! I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE OTHERS TO NOT WASTE THERE TIME OR MONEY...
Read moreWe got a takeaway for £50.
Half duck Special rice Ribs Crispy squid Prawn toast Mange tout and Chinese leaves Sweet and sour chicken in batter.
First impression was that it was a bit pricey compared to our go to chinese takeaway. Unfortunately, the price did not meet the quality of food by any means.
The duck was lovely but only 2 packs of pancakes could have been upped to 3 to be adequate for the half duck.
The prawn toast was so oily that the batter would be turned away from a cafe if it was served as fried bread. As you bit into it, the oil came out into your mouth and that what you could taste.
The chicken in batter was the same and after a few mouthfuls of both the rest was put aside for the bin. The sweet and sour source was very vinegary and it's only redeeming feature was that it took your mind away from the greasy batter.
The squid in batter had the same oily batter but tasted stale as though it was yesterday's.
The special fried rice had no sign of frying (apart from the egg). The rice was boiled and the slices of ham and chicken in it had obviously just been shown the wok.
The ribs were very tasty but there was a lot of oil left in the bottom of the container so the last ones had to be dried with a bit of kitchen roll before eating.
Finally a last thing that may seem a little bit pedantic, but for £50, the food didn't meet this mark. Also there were no free prawn cracker which are a "given" at this price range.
My family agreed with me on this review and I phoned the restaurant to give my feedback and asked if they had a new chef in tonight. They assured me that this was not the case.
I have never thrown away a Chinese take away, infact I enjoy thetleft overs re heated the next day. We binned the chicken, sweet and sour sauce and prawn toast and will certainly not...
Read moreI cannot speak more highly of 'The Chef' in Worcester Park. I have been there a few times now and on every occasion the food served has been fresh and tasty and the service excellent. The Chef is a Chinese restaurant that allows you to pay one price per head of £16 and then order as much as you like from the menu, just like an 'All you can eat' restaurant. However 'The Chef' is much better than any other 'All you can eat' eatery that i have ever been to before. The food isn't salty, it's fresh and tasty. The menu is full of instantly recognizable dishes. After making yourselves comfortable at your table you are presented with a pen and notebook for you and your guests to write down their choices from the starters menu initially. You can stay with the starter menu until you have had enough and then move on to the main course menu. Once on the main course menu, you can't go back to the starter menu and drinks are extra. The staff are pleasant and the food is served quickly. None of the waiters/waitresses make you feel uncomfortable about what you are ordering or how much you order so it is a great place to take your kids and introduce them to the Chinese cuisine without worrying about whether they are going to...
