My husband and I have lived near by since 2010. We appreciate and enjoy the local hospitalities from efforts made by individuals from local businesses. Harrow on the hill and its local businesses has served the local community, in my opinion, very well indeed. But my husband being Indian naturally tends to shy away from Indian food as he gets fed it more than most. As funny as it my seem however he did go into the connoisseur on his way home from work, a one off, just to be open minded and try the Indian food. The service was great and he ordered his kebab roll for takeaway. When it came he wanted to eat it there instead of taking it away and that was a problem for the manager that had just arrived moments before the food was delivered to his table. My husband politely asked if he could eat it there and was told abruptly and in a rude manor that he couldn't. The manager explained that a lunch menu was served and it wasn't to be consumed similarly and in ordinary fashion like other guests were eating their dinner's. The manager was obvious in making this stand out by using authoritative language as my husband tried to reason with him. My husband walked away paying for his pint of cobra and popadoms. He didn't complain. But i felt something should be said. The staff were humble and nice unfortunately their manager had a weak temperament. Sad to see an empty...
Read moreWe are local Harrow residents who normally eat in the Bistro. We came here tempted by a Groupon voucher. Restaurant has a really mixed up cuisine. With even fish and chips on the menu. We felt conned as Groupon promised a 3 course meal with a glass of wine however, you were restricted to a very small choice. The starter does not include sizzlers which means you are governed by price. I love my kebab starter but you needed to pay for it. They offered deep fried squid which the batter was rubbery and really does not fit into an Indian menu. The main courses were either vegetarian or non- vegetarian. This again was price restricted and the choice was limited. The restaurant has cleverly worked the menu to evade the Groupon deal for instance, a King Prawn dish was £18.00 (dearer than most Indian restaurants) the limit you have with a Groupon voucher is £17.95 therefore you are 5p short of ordering this dish which means if you want it you have to pay the full price for it. It's a trick to get you to spend whilst luring you in with Groupon. The carrot Halva tasted as though it had just been heated up in a microwave. I spent the night in the toilet. Definitely will not be darkening their door step again. Groupon you should be ashamed...
