The Corner Terrace London — Restaurant in London

Very long review but Laki please read!!!!! We used to enjoy going to Corner terrace and have nice meals, but the last couple of times we went we experienced really bad service and attitude from the staff. First time we wanted to order dessert and asked to have slice from the cake that looked fresh made and not from the one that was left on small plate. The waitress said is fine initially, but when she asked at the bar she was told that this cake is not ready yet. I am sure she should have known this before taking the order and we would have the information at first hand then choose something else not choosing leftovers that are on plate. We were left with no option but to go to another place for dessert. We went again to give second chance as we had nice meals there pre COVID-19 and the food was nice but this time was even worse. We were four of us and ordered Greek salad without onions, sopska without onions and tomato salad with onions, mixed grill for one and two house special “Corner terrace escalope”. After waiting 20 minutes we got Greek salad with onions and tomato salad without onions. I got extra onions but my friend didn’t get new Greek salad but just onions taken out from the first salad. No apology or sorry from the waiter. Another 25 minutes wait for the main meals and there is mixed grill arrived but no escalopes. Another 10 minutes and the waiter is bringing two plates with something else that we didn’t order and when we asked his reply was that what he was given as they don’t have the house special escalope. I understand that they may run out of some food but I don’t understand why the we weren’t informed shortly after the order placed in the kitchen. Then we asked who has given the waiter the plates to bring to our table, which he answered from the kitchen. I have asked for manager to speak to and got sharp answer there isn’t a manager on site, then asked for the owner to be told the owner isn’t on site too. Obviously the waiter was not experienced and didn’t have any costumer service skills and I have asked for the person who chose for me what to eat to speak to but no gain as the shift just saddenly changed and they all gone home. While sitting and waiting we have noticed that two families on the other table returned plates when their food arrived. It’s obvious that something is wrong in this place and not only the waiters, but the kitchen and probably the management if any. Unfortunately we will need to accept that we shouldn’t go there anymore and be treated like that and not be able to eat what you have chosen to. Ah and not to mention that the bill was wrong as well but couldn’t be bothered to argue with the waiter who didn’t even used once the word sorry or even to try to get someone else to come and speak to us and on the end didn’t say goodbye. I have been traveling 1.5h to get to this place every time I wanted to go. I think I tried every meal from their menu and spent over £1000 in one year. The problem I see is the attitude of some/most waiters. For example -

I order freshly pressed orange Juice from their menu - but I got a cheap and bitter orange squash - when asked them what was that about, they said that they were out of oranges.

I bring 3-4 friends and we place our orders - at least 2 of us wouldn't get what was ordered...they were consistent in doing this to that degree that I started having bets with my friends - betting that they won't get everything they ordered... I mostly won.

Then there is a 'veal escalope' in their menu but they never actually had it and can get offended if you ask for it.

The place and the service reminds of low end cheap eastern european 'kafanas'.

Saying that - they still make quite good 'cevapi' and goulash is also ok. Some staff members are very kind and apologetic.

This place is decent when it comes to food, however it has rude staff. I tried to order a chicken omelet however there is no chicken omelet. I asked the waitress to charge me extra to get me some chicken in my omelet. Since on the menu it says there are extra topics, even though they are not listed. She said she doesn't know how much she is going to charge me, blablabla. Sure fine I ordered jacket potato with chicken in addition to my omelet since I wanted to have some chicken. Price was about 4 pounds. I am not sure why she couldn't just charge me 4 pounds extra and add chicken to my omelet, using your head its not that hard. My omelet has not arrived, so the short chubby waitress with dark hair completely screwed up my order. Second I went to pay for my meal, even thought I been there before and used master card, she said they only accept visas. I pulled out my visa credit card which I used earlier that day. She said my card isn't working, which is strange since I have no issues with my card. Lucky I...
