This review is based on our experience with Buffet we ate on Sunday. Few things:
Most important thing is how adding around 10% (precisely 11%) service charge over the advertised buffet price made no sense to me. It left us a bad taste in our mouths. The logic behind buffet is self-serve, and we didnt understand why these service charges were added. Its a false advertising otherwise. Either you sell this buffet as £15, or dont charge these misleading service charges. I am sure before making a decision of adding such service charges, the owner also mustve gotten the doubts if he should do it or not. I can tell it because when owner gave me the bill receipt and when i was inspecting it, he tried to distract me with unnecessary conversations.
Food taste was decent than most of Indian places in all honesty. I guess this is the strongest factor.
The total number of food items are lesser than any other buffets i have ever eaten, which made us feel that the price of £13 (plus service charge) is expensive for this buffet. We have eaten at better locations, ambience and more items in similar price. There definitely should be a sweet item in the menu.
Charging £6 for less than 5 year old kids is harsh to be honest when most places offer infact "under 5 kids eat for free".. still this £6 is fine and genuine but imagine paying almost £15 for 6-7 year kids buffet which makes this place budget unfriendly if you have kids of age group 6-10. This is another short-sightedness we observed. Kids under 4-5 should be free literally considering they eat such littl3 amount, and upto 8 or 10 should be £6-8 if owner wants to bring more families.
Ambience really need a lot of work. Creating menu of the shape of bat and ball wont make it a "cricket lounge". Currently its in sad state.
Owner Rohit is definitely seem friendly but oversell few things. For ex, i am not sure who ranked this place number 1 out of 125 indian restaurants when you have settled restaurants like Grange in the area. I am sure he wont like my review too but try not to oversell it as people can catch it.
The restaurant has lot of potential and most importantly the "hero product" their food taste is clearly a winner. If they really and genuinely work on few things with long road vision, they can clearly do a lot good.
For me, I wont be visiting it again soon (even if i crave for good food) and clearly wont recommending unless someone tells me in the future that they have worked on few things. I can still feel some bad taste in my mouth as passively treating...
Read moreTitle: A Delightful Dining Experience at Cricket LoungeCricket Lounge offers a delightful culinary journey, and our recent visit left us thoroughly impressed. We opted for both the Veg Thali and Non-Veg Thali, each boasting a delightful assortment of dishes. The Veg Thali included sumptuous servings of Daal Makhani, Paneer Butter Masala, Naan, rice, Gulab Jamun, mixed sabji, Papad, and Raita. The Non-Veg Thali substituted Paneer Butter Masala with the equally mouthwatering Butter Chicken, while retaining the rest of the menu. The flavors were authentically crafted, with each dish showcasing a perfect balance of spices and textures. The Daal Makhani was rich and creamy, while the Paneer Butter Masala (or Butter Chicken in the Non-Veg Thali) melted in the mouth. The Naan was soft and fluffy, ideal for sopping up the flavorful gravies. The inclusion of mixed sabji, Papad, and Raita provided a refreshing contrast to the robust flavors of the main dishes. What truly sets Cricket Lounge apart, however, is its impeccable customer service. Raj and Chef Mohammed went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their attention to detail and willingness to cater to our preferences added an extra layer of satisfaction to our meal. Moreover, the restaurant's pricing is incredibly reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food served. Cricket Lounge offers not only delicious cuisine but also excellent value for money. In conclusion, Cricket Lounge is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors served with world-class hospitality. Whether you opt for the Veg Thali or Non-Veg Thali, you're in for a treat. We can't wait to return for another culinary adventure at...
Read moreRight off the bat this is not your ordinary curry house (Pardon the pun) A lovely little sports bar style restaurant and cocktail bar with an emphasis on cricket. This place is clean, bright and vibrant. A good selection of drinks, focusing on cocktails, whisky and gin. Now for the food. Out have gone your korma, madras and vindaloo style curries typically found. In are now soft shell crab, seabass and slow cooked lamb shank. We had both the crab and shank, finding them to be incredibly good. However the star of the show was the chilli paneer. This was easily the best I've ever had and one of my top 10 Indian dishes of all time. I should add I grew up eating Indian food 3 or 4 times per week for 15 years and have had thousands of meals and tens of thousands of dishes which include Michelinstar Indian restaurants, to give some context of just how good this dish is. Between two of us we had 2 starters, 3 mains, rice, bread, bhajis, poppadoms, a kulfi and 4 drinks for just under £110 which included service charge. I thought it was worth every penny. Last but not least a big shout out to the manager and his team. He was not only friendly and attentive, but passionate and proud of the food and project he is delivering at this venue. Please, if you enjoy Indian cuisine give this place a try, you won't regret it. I really hope this place succeeds and is part of our community for...
