Itâs with great disappointment that I feel compelled to go out of my way and write this review.
This weekend, we attended a friendâs birthday at this venue, and the entire experience was shockingly disorganised and disrespectful. Halfway through our dinner, part of our group â seated slightly apart from the main table in an L-shape â were abruptly asked to move, even though we hadnât finished our meals and the cake hadnât yet been served.
To make matters worse, while the move was happening, a woman who I believe was the ownerâs partner (Gemma) came over and physically pushed the table I was sitting at â while we were still seated â with no warning or explanation. To my disbelief, she kept pushing the table toward me until I had nowhere else to go. I found this behaviour incredibly rude, shocking, and completely unacceptable.
Rather than apologising, she returned later to condescendingly justify her actions, claiming they were doing us a favour by rearranging our group mid-dinner to allow us to remain together (but in reality was making space for another party,) as the DJ was due to start at 9 PM (this was at 8:30 â we still had plenty of time left). We were told this would âgive us more space and avoid interruptions â though we were already seated and comfortable waiting for cake to be served!!
Still processing what had happened, I remained polite not to disrupt our friendâs celebration. However, shortly after, as I was walking toward the restroom, Gemma and another staff member physically pushed past me, hand on my back, with no âexcuse meâ or courtesy. Yes, the venue was getting crowded â but basic manners should still apply.
Later, we went to the rooftop, which had been promoted as a great continuation of the night, only to find out it was booked for another private event â so we decided to leave. As I went to collect my coat, Gemma threw out a dismissive and insincere apology, which at that point felt entirely too late.
To top it all off, as we waited outside for our Uber, we witnessed the owner berating a security guard and forcing him to pick up cans from the trees near the entrance. The entire environment felt hostile, unwelcoming, and poorly managed. Never again am i stepping in that place! Real shame ...
Hi Gemma,
In response to your comment as i am unable to respond directly I'm genuinely happy that the person we were celebrating on the night had a wonderful time at her bday party, thatâs what mattered most on the day.
Having said that , my feedback was based on my personal experience, which was not as positive, i as one of the guests was abruptly pushed with a table without any prior notice or communication, and with nowhere else to go as i was already in the furthest corner of the room. You looked at me in the eye as you proceeded to push the table towards me then following this incident came over to over-explain what was happening in order to justify your terrible behaviour.
I chose not to raise any issues on the night so as not to dampen the mood with my friend but that does not negate any of the series of events that happened during the evening !!!
What prompted my review was being physically pushed twice which I found unacceptable on the day and still unbelievable that you are defending. I sincerely hope you take this as constructive feedback on board : please donât treat your guests this way again.
If there were truly no truth to what I shared, there wouldnât have been an attempt from your end to have my review removed or overwritten by another. I had hoped for an apology, but clearly, thatâs not your approach ... again...
Read moreI hosted my 30th birthday party in the Red Room with around 55 guests, and overall, I really enjoyed the spaceâit had a great atmosphere, and my friend DJed, which made the evening feel personal and fun. Larissa was great in the lead-up to the event, providing clear and helpful communication, and Max was fantastic on the night itselfâreally attentive and professional.
However, I was quite disappointed with the bartender assigned to us for the evening. Unfortunately, he was consistently rude to my guestsâso much so that even my parents commented on it. After the pre-arranged bar tab ran out, he also failed to inform anyone that a service charge was already included on drinks. This was frustrating, especially since I had confirmed with Larissa beforehand that I didnât want any additional service charge applied throughout the evening. When guests noticed and asked about it, he was dismissive and unhelpful, despite the service falling far below expectations. Several guests ended up raising complaints directly to both me and the manager, which definitely put a damper on an otherwise great night.
That said, the rest of the staff were lovely and contributed positively to the evening.
One other small note: the music volume in the Red Room didnât seem quite loud enough for a party atmosphere. Compared to the Barn downstairsâwhere the sound was vibrant and energeticâit felt like there might have been a technical issue with the speaker system or a volume restriction in place in...
Read moreI recently celebrated my 50th birthday at The Cross, in their restaurant/lounge, and I couldnât have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff were incredibly professional and accommodating, making the evening truly special.
I first got in touch with Max, who warmly welcomed me to visit the venue and gave me a full tour. After I confirmed the booking, he was extremely helpful in arranging everything I needed. It was a special party. On the night Gemma was great, dealt with a last minute sudden issues with amplifier which was rectified in 15 minutes, gave me other options which i was not aware for the food menu using all the resources of the venue. She was available for the whole evening night. The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was great and the waiters very professional .A special thank you to Ettore, who was amazing with my guests and familyâhis attention to detail and warm approach truly stood out. Max called me the day after to ensure I had a great experience. I am very impressed and can confidently say The Cross is the best venue for parties and its still a club you can dance and enjoy their terrace until late night. Thank you to everyone at The Cross for making my milestone birthday so memorable!
