With the massive refurbishments of St Pancras and Kings Cross Stations, and the gradual gentrification of the surrounding area, along came plenty of shiny, soulless bar/restaurants. Thankfully some of the traditional boozers, like this one, have survived.
Situated on a side-street off the King's Cross end of Caledonian Road, it attracts mainly locals and afterwork drinkers. The compact, one-roomed bar quickly gets pretty congested and customers soon spill out onto the front pavement.
A decent selection of ales is normally on offer, together with a good range of bottled beers. Only snacks are available but the landlord is happy for you to order your lunch at the cafe over the road and the cafe owners will even bring it across to you. In the evenings the pub also allows takeaway deliveries.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe beer is alright and quite cheap. The problem is the service as mentioned by other people before. I went with my wife and after 20 mins we were sitting on the bench the owner asked us in a bad way if we didn't want more beer(we already have ordered 2 and spent 8 pounds). We said we were alright and in a rude way the guy said:"This is a pub and people have to drink, it's not a place to stay only" and invited us to leave since we didn't want to drink more. Really? So in case you want to be treated badly by this fellow prepare yourself with a timer because if you don't spend more than 8 pounds each 20 mins you will be kicked out. Also the service is really poor. The pub is falling a part and the toilet smell badly. I wouldn't go back even if I was invited for free...

One of Londonās Top Boozers.
I last posted about The King Charles I back in 2017. In recent months I have been in and around the Kings Cross area and I have always made time to visit this wonderful traditional boozer.
This pub is one of the most revered pubs in London and for good reason. The backstreet location, the unique classic interior, the local pub feel and the warm and welcoming hospitality all add up to the most difficult of equations that make a pub special.
Itās very rare that I use the term āhidden gemā but this pub personifies that meaning. When youāre next in and around Kings Cross, do yourself a favour and pay a visit to this most excellent hostelry.
