From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped by an incredible atmosphere that felt like a warm, cozy home away from home. The care given to each guest were evident from the start, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
The culinary adventure began with the starters, and the Mimoza stood out as nothing short of superb. It exuded a fusion of Turkish Olivier salad notes but elevated to a level that can only be described as "way better." The balance of flavors and textures in this dish was a delightful surprise.
For the main courses, I had the pleasure of indulging in Azerbaijani Plov, and I must say it was absolutely delicious. The flavors and spices in this dish were expertly crafted, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. However, the real stars of the evening were the Pelmeni and Beef Khingal. These dishes were a must-try, offering a top-notch experience that resonated with the flavors of Turkish Manti, yet with a unique twist that made them truly exceptional.
To conclude our culinary journey, I enjoyed the Honey Cake for dessert. It was nothing short of excellent, offering a sweet and satisfying conclusion to the meal. As a perfect companion, the tea served was not just a beverage; it was a soothing and delightful experience that left pleasant notes lingering on the palate.
Land of Fire is a restaurant that not only pays homage to its cultural roots but also excels in delivering a dining experience that is both heartwarming and exceptional. The combination of a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes that transport your taste buds to the land of Azerbaijan makes this restaurant a must-visit. Each bite was a journey into the heart of culinary excellence, and I can't recommend it enough. It's a true gem for anyone seeking authenticity, warmth, and...
Read moreA great place to come and enjoy Azerbaijani and various Eastern European and Central Asian cuisine.
The restaurant is under a new management and the new host Asif is very welcoming and caring host. We had dolma, dovqa, Eastern European wrapped pancakes with meat ( blinchiki), Ukrainian borscht, Choban salat. The dolma was cooked to perfection and was super tasty, same could be said for the blinchiks. The dovqa was not sour as it should be and was rather plain. The borscht was tasty but to my great surprise didn't have any meat in it. The owner said it was their vegetarian option. I ordered it without reading the small print. Will know next time. The Chiban salat was more a Greek style salad with feta cheese and was nothing to do with Azerbaijani style choban salad which was a bit disappointing.
The service was great however sometimes slow because they only have 1 waiter. But the place is too small for 2 waiters anyway Overall a good experience. We spent almost £70 for 2 without any drinks. Not a cheap place but definitely worth visiting a few times a year.
P.S. A suggestion to the new owner to change the decoration so when clients walk in to the place they immediately feel and see it is a an Azərbaycani restaurant, especially as ut us the only one in London. It didn't feel that...
Read moreTrying Azerbaijan cuisine. It's not a cuisine I often bump into hence dined there. Studying the menu, there were things from different cuisines like plov from Uyghur, Georgian khinkali, Russian pelmeni and Persian lamb stew rice. There were other interesting things like testicle skewers. I got the Khingal which was something new to me, it is basically large square/triangle sheets of dough (pasta) similar to Stracci topped with meat and onions with a choice of chicken or beef. I believe chicken is probably nicer but I got beef thinking it would be more flavourful. The dish is quite dry, I was expecting it saucy. You do get sour cream but they don't get a long as well as dumplings. Overall, it works but you have to eat it quickly before it cools down as the sheets will stick together. To summarize, the portions are huge and expensive for something simple because this dish is just a basic dish in Azerbaijan. For those who like trying different cuisines, I would definitely recommend. Although I recommend the food, I found the service chaotic. Initially the restaurant was full, hence I ordered for takeaway, upon seeing someone leaving which the manager knew because he settled his payment, he does not tell the other staffso when another person came in, the other waitress sat...
