🚇 Canonbury 🍺 £5.20 Heineken ❤️ Victorian splendour with a modern day twist. . The Cellar Taps is located in Newington Green and is just a stones throw away from the leafy green that gives this area its name. The nearest station is Canonbury which is a five minute stroll away. . Built in 1868, this recently renovated pub still maintains some original features and clues to the pub’s heritage. Firstly, you have the pub’s original name, The Edinburgh Tavern which is lettered down the corner of the pub. Then the multiple entrance’s, this now one bar pub would have had a public, saloon and billiard room. Be sure to enter this pub by the left side door to see the beautiful Victorian tiled entrance. . The decor here has a contemporary mix of new and old. The stand out features for me are the columns, ceiling, back bar woodwork and the large atrium in the once billiard room at the back of the bar. The large picture windows flood the bar with light which makes for a bright and airy feel. There are some modern touches like the wallpaper, pendant lighting and multiple screens showing live sport. . The beer choice was good, there is lots to choose from including four cask and several craft options. I opted for a Heineken, my pint was great and reasonably priced at just over a fiver. The food menu is full of comfort food with an emphasis on Burgers and Wings, a bacon and cheese burger with skinny fries costs £13.50. . I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, there is a nice buzz around the main bar area with a more chilled vibe at the rear of the bar. The clientele was a good mix of young and old and the service was great. The staff here were chatty and personable and clearly enjoyed what they do. . The @thecellartapsnewingtongreen was an excellent visit, I loved the pub and the vibe here. The beer and food options are good and the price point is great. The decor is vibrant and you’ll be well looked after by the team here. Get this pub on 2023 calendar. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

On 28th October I booked a function(which was a surprise 60th Birthday party for my husband). When I booked it I didn't realise that it was the Rugby Union World Cup Final. We had booked the back part of the pub for the function which was for people coming to the party. When I turned up with my husband and his family, who were in on the surprise, the pub was rammed with lots of people, mainly New Zealanders, who had shown up to watch the final.I thought how on earth are we going to manage to have a party with all this going on but thanks to José (manager) and all his staff we had such a great night.Slight problem with bar tab at first, but that was purely down to the amount of people in the pub, which was dealt with quickly and professionally. The food was out of this world and the guests who came haven't stopped talking about it.Admittedly at times it was a bit chaotic but overall it was such a great experience.I can't thank José and his staff enough.Would highly recommend this as a venue for any function because if they can handle that sort of pressure they can handle anything.👍👍👍👍👍 Main thing was my husband was totally surprised and overwhelmed by it all.He likes this pub for the sport it shows which is why I picked it in the...

Passing the pub many times I'd seen the attractive interior and range of craft beers and ales so my friend and I finally called in there last week. The welcome was noticeably lukewarm but we were enticed back by a poster offering a pint and a burger for ÂŁ13 on a Monday and Tuesday. Tonight, we learned that this applies only to pints of Guinness, Amstel or cider - not the Brixton , Neck Oil or Camden range. It also applies only to the classic burger or the veggie option, not the Codfather which as a pescatarian I was looking forward to. Besides that, the Harveys Best ale was not on offer for the second week running and my friend's Neck Oil was off so he left it but when the manager collected the half-full glass and was told it wasn't right, he said not a word and walked away. I'm not someone who writes bad reviews (as can be seen from my previous posts) but when I come across such disappointing service I feel obliged to make comment. The dĂŠcor is lovely but I have seldom felt so unwelcome. It was summed up when on arrival I asked if the Monday/Tuesday burger and pint deal was on and the barman had to check his phone to see what day of the...

Terrible experience at The Cellar Taps. The owner / guy in charge of the pub - who was very drunk this night - I think his name was Tom - tried to use the ‘#metoo’ when he wanted me and my friends to leave the pub (two girls, two guys). This is totally unacceptable and disgusting to use that against us to leave his pub. A nice lady behind the bar said we had 10 minutes, he decide to interrupt us and butt in using that vile language. He then decided to follow us out of the pub to square up to my two girl friends. He should not be in charge and needs firing. Will never return to this pub and I urge everyone else not to until he gets fired. Disgusting human to use that against us. The owner actually wasted at his own pub, perhaps he should put his energy into his customer service and not drinking. The handsome guy behind the bar had to come out and applies for his behaviour. This is a pretty serious incident and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

What a fantastic venue. I would highly recommend The Cellars for a drink a meal or an occasion to celebrate. Steve, Stephen and the staff are friendly, helpful, accommodating and so much fun. They helped us to plan and arrange a celebration of the life of my husband’s godmother, Glad. And what a celebration. The decorations were perfect for an old lady who was young and blingy in nature. There's a vast range of drinks, especially loving the gin and beer range. The food was a great mixture of hot and cold buffet food but so much more than a buffet and delicious. The Friday night traffic was lighter than expected but it caused them no problem to welcome us and provide the wonderful fare a whole hour earlier than planned. It was a very happy and joyous affair. Glad would have loved it. Thanks to all at The Cellars for helping us say goodbye to Glad in ‘Her Style’
