I had arrived to see someone I didn't know where to go once inside I asked for a beer I was asked which one then I asked for Fosters the woman said they don't have that then I said I will think about which one the lady suggested cider to I said no I am still thinking about it and could I not be rushed. Then suddenly the woman just turned around suddenly asking me to leave as if I had done something offensive. When I asked if I had done something to the woman she said she is the land lord and that I am not suitable to attend her pub, since I am black and I hadn't argued with anyone or touched I had to question why they was being racist against me. The land lord lady attempted to use her mixed race ethnicity to justify her self as black while clearly discriminating against me, I had to remind her that she is mixed race and not black, she then attempted to use a white sounding white endoctrinated sellout black guy who refused to accept averagely coulterd black coulter, to put me down. He didn't attempt to identify if I am Caribbean, African North or South American black, they just continued to threatn me with police only because I had asked what I had done wrong, I had to deny both of them any black recognition due to their hostile behaviour towards me, straight from work and not have had any alcoholic drink for over 4 years and completely sober at the end of my day. This bar is completely racist, for racist against average non...
Read moreLove this cosy dog friendly pub, has a fantastic range of beers, wines and cocktails, lovely food options and honestly, it feels like a home away from home. Everyone who works there is always so lovely and welcoming. It has lovely regulars (and their dogs) and hosts great socials. Definitely highly recommended!
UPDATE a year on (17th July 2023): Yesterday I discovered they now also do the, honest to god, best Vegan Sunday Roast I've ever had (see pictures attached). It was epic! So so so good! Staff even said to me that the vegan roast was their favourite roast even though they eat meat! The Wellington filling looked like meat, felt like meat and tasted like meat but was actually made from beetroot (though didn't taste like beetroot which is impressive in itself), nuts and a bunch of other stuff. Honestly I'm salivating at the thought of it now 🤤...
Read morePerfectly decent pub for a drink, friendly vibes, not too busy on a weeknight. Food was mediocre to my mind — ordered the veggie/vegan burger and it was a bit like a throwback to the early 2000s, bean burger/veggie burger vibes. Wouldn't take much effort to make the one vegetarian/vegan option on the menu a LOT better, just by switching out to a nicer burger. My partner liked the chips but I don't really enjoy those sort of brown, squishy style fries, so they weren't really for me. The smoked aubergine starter was very deliciously smoked but the nutty toppings were quite hard and chewy (again, may just be not to my taste). All the food was very hot and fresh, and obviously made with care — so it probably is a good kitchen! But if you're vegetarian and vegan there are so many incredible places to get a meal in this neighbourhood — maybe drink here and eat...
