I don't know whether he is one of the owners or just bar staff, but his attitude is extremely horrible and arrogant. I went to the Garrett Tavern pub to watch the Manchester United game a month ago, and the Chelsea game was on too. There are several TVs inside and outside in the garden. That day, the pub was empty—only two elderly guys inside and three lads in the garden. I asked if he could put the Man Utd game on one of the TVs, and the guy at the bar was extremely rude, saying, “Nah, this is a Chelsea pub. No United game.”
I've been living in Earlsfield and Wandsworth for more than five years, and the Garrett Tavern has never been known as a specific football club supporter pub. It's known for its great atmosphere and diversity of patrons, but this guy was on another level with his rudeness.
Today, I wanted to watch the Chelsea vs. Real Betis final, and the same guy was serving. I said, “Hi, good evening,” and joined the queue to buy a drink. When it was almost my turn, I said, “Sorry mate, when you can, can I get a Foster’s?” The guy then responded, “Oh, you've got five seconds to change your attitude, or I won't serve you.” I was shocked, so I told him to go and screw himself and left.
That pub has been great in the past, but there is new management who seems to hire staff without any customer service experience or skills. I worked in pubs, bars, and festivals, and I have never treated anyone the way I was treated.
I strongly do not recommend this pub. The Wandle Pub is much better and...
Read moreWe popped in here for lunch to avoid the carnage that would be Nandos on a half term (think screaming kids/queues etc). Turned out to be a great decision. We had a decent meal and probably the best service I've had in a pub/restaurant in ages.
As an example my daughter ordered fish fingers but unfortunately they were out, she was unsure whether to get Scampi as she couldn't remember if she liked it or not and the chef said no problem and cooked her a single Scampi to try in a little bowl. She decided to go with the Scampi. They might not do this if it was super busy but the point is they didn't have to and it really helped make a good experience.
Prices are reasonable too. I had a burger with bacon and definitely as good as anything I've had from some much...
Read moreThis pub has always been a quaint pub that recently got a piano. Fun story is that I meet the person that used to own the piano this night when we went there. Which for us was really nice as we had someone talented play the piano! Love that experience. The costumers here have usually been friendly, and does it have a sport type pub style. It’s a typical drinking spot post training and it is a popular spot during sporting events that is being broadcast. The staff here have been lovely. A friend spilt their drink, and they were kind enough to clean it up and him a new glass free of charge. They could attend more to the restroom and fix the lock on the toilet as it has been broken for...
