Smoky Boys — Restaurant in London

Update ** After posting my last review I was contacted by the restaurant who read my review and appreciated my my constructive criticism of my dining experience. They very kindly invited me back to the restaurant to show me that things would have improved. I went back there yesterday 14.09.24 and I was seated by the manager Naisar. I have to say the customer service experience was much better and the staff more attentive and upbeat, actually smiling which is how it should be. I ordered different items than I had previously and I would say, to anyone going there you need to try their Garlic prawns which were delicious and seasoned very well, the food was nicely presented and the service much better throughout. We had a lovely experience and would expect this to be the same on every visit. The cocktails and milkshakes are devine and the food presentation was good too, I had Korean chicken wings but did not want the sauces served on the chicken, so they were able to accommodate that and were served on little pots on the side which for me was great. The service and attitude of the staff made the whole dining experience great, it is a lovely place to eat and it felt very welcoming and I would most definitely come back here again and want to thank Smoky boys for giving me the chance to see the change in their customer service and being able to write a positive review the second time around!

I attended Smoky Boys in Southside on Saturday afternoon, a table was booked for 13.30. We were seated quickly but everything from there went down hill. From taking the order we had a couple thing from the starters which, were to be starters and then main. All the food came together, then you had a choice of 4, 8 or 12 wings or chicken strips we did 8 each of wings and strips well 2 x plates of 4 came to the little table we we are on, then the calamari, then the childs meal, the table was overloaded with plates. The when we asked them for one place for the 8 wings and chicken strips that seemed to be an ordeal.

There was another young lady who was constantly trying to clear our table when we, we were still eating, which is a big no, no. The person serving us after bringing our food never asked if we wanted any condiments for our fries, we had to ask.

I spent £101.00 for food that was just okay and what makes me unhappy, is the lack luster service that the staff give is just beyond the pale especially if you want to stay in business. I will not be...

Edit: came back again two days later, yes I am fat. We walked in and told the waiter it's cold and where is a warm spot. He just agreed it's cold and that's what it is. I ordered the steak this time with peppercorn sauce and chips. It came at just about edible temperare. We had just done gym so just wanted to eat. The chips were cold. The peppercorn sauce tasted like fairy liquid, I never tasted any sauce like it. It had a thick texture. When we raised it with the server we were told they normally have the mix in the fridge and microwave it. This was made fresh. I guess on Sunday they don't have the means to make it or they normally have a ready made mix. But what they gave me tasted like fairy liqued. I was given an alternative of cold chilli sauce and cold oil in herbs. I raised this with the waiter he didn't say anything. I raised the fact the food was cold and he didn't say anything. Never coming back again. The steak was very thin and tough. Only worth having the wings and ribs I guess

I dined here this evening with 2 guests and loved the decor, the atmosphere, kindness of the staff and that the food was halal. I was excited to eat from the extensive menu, lots of burger options, steak, chicken choices. We went for a virgin mojito and some sides to share. We had a film to catch but felt that we had enough time to eat first..... unfortunately 20minutes went past and we hadn't recieved our food. we looked around the pretty packed restaurant and realised no one else had received their food yet either. I'm not sure if this is normal or if they were having a slow day in the kitchen... but no one apologiesed for the wait and the atmosphere got a bit... dull with lots of hungry agitated guests. We were now running late to see our film so had to ask the staff to make our order to go instead. Even this took a while to do and I watched our bag sit under the food light for a further 5minutes. We paid and left, the mojitos were lovely but the wait for the food was disappointing. The portions for what we paid I'd say wasn't adequate but we did enjoy the vibe and would eat here again when we don't need to...
