I decided to give this restaurant a second chance on the Bank Holiday Weekend (Sunday). The entrance has changed with large metal shutters and small adverts splattered around the entrance door selling the services of shop roller shutters. Why? They’ve moved the kitchen from the middle of the restaurant to the rear which is a shame as watching the chefs preparing food was a nice touch. Not much of a greeting and choose our own table. After a long wait Mr. Singh with his tablet wandered over. He’s clearly passionate about his tablet as it spent ages transfixed to it. Quite entertaining watching him walk into people as he stared at it. Would have been nice if he had worn socks as his gnarly nails in slippers showed which was off putting. The toilets are incredible piece of engineering and a wonder of the modern world. Barely enough space and the toilet squeezed in such that your left arm props the wall up; no chance of using toilet paper.
I ordered butter chicken, several types of nans and lamb. Initial impressions - Very small proportions. The lamb was chewy and inedible. I pointed this out to the owner’s son and invited him to taste it. He wasn’t particularly interested though a little while later we were served with a replacement without announcement. It was marginally better. The condiments are horrid and served out from last commercial containers. Not fresh. While there, another person had some of form of epileptic fit. Would have been nice if someone had told us what was going on. Not one smiling face in this establishment.
In summary the experience was really poor and it’s a shadow of its former self. The food is tasteless and bland at best, way overpriced, small portions and the décor is poor and dirty. I don’t think this restaurant will survive unless they have a radical makeover. They need to re-position themselves with much lower prices to cater for a different type of clientele with the “basic” offerings they have. This is not a high...
Read moreA Flavorful Delight at The Karahi - Lamb Karahi and Chilli Garlic Naan! I had the pleasure of dining at The Karahi restaurant recently, was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for a delightful meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making me feel right at home.
The Lamb Karahi was an absolute flavor explosion! The tender pieces of lamb were cooked to perfection, infused with a rich blend of spices that would put some London restaurants to shame! The karahi had just the right amount of heat, adding a delightful kick without overpowering the dish. Each bite was a heavenly combination of succulent meat and aromatic spices.
To complement the lamb karahi, I ordered the Chilli Garlic Naan, it was soft, fluffy, and generously topped with a tantalising blend of chili and garlic.
The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and content. The presentation of the dishes was also commendable, showcasing the care and attention to detail put into each plate.
The service at The Karahi was top-notch. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring that all my needs were met. They were prompt in taking my order and delivering the food, making the overall dining experience seamless and enjoyable.
I highly recommend The Karahi to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Punjabi cuisine or simply looking to try something new, this restaurant will not disappoint. The Lamb Karahi and Chilli Garlic Naan are must-tries that will leave you craving for more. I can't wait to visit again and explore the rest of their menu.

Read moreMy family have been visiting this restaurant for around 10 years. We knew service and food quality had been declining in the last couple years, but today was the deciding factor. We visited today for a quick lunch and had placed an order for 2 kebab rolls to eat in and 1 for takeaway from the “EXPRESS DISHES” section on the menu. The waiter was very reluctant to take the order and said we would have to wait around 20-25 minutes and would be much quicker if we ordered a curry dish. Despite being an express dish, he was adamant this would take much longer than a curry dish so was trying to get us to order something else.
Despite wanting a quick lunch, we said we were willing to wait for the 20-25 minutes. However, after over half an hour of waiting, we had to remind the waiter we still hadn’t been served our food. Also, all 3 kebab rolls were prepared at the same time despite us wanting to eat in (2 kebab rolls and 1 for takeaway). By the time we would’ve left, the kebab would’ve gone cold to take home.
We have been coming here for the past 10 years and have never been served kebabs like this! It definitely was not worth the wait. The kebabs arrived wrapped in foil paper as if it was packed for a takeaway order and was served on 2 tiny soup plates. The were no cutlery or napkins on the table until we asked for them!! Not worth the money at all! Service and food quality has seriously declined. Save yourself a journey and please don’t waste your...
