The cafe was packed when we attended, booking is a must. Seated outside on hot sunny day and awning didn't cover my side of the table so got uncomfortable. Sandwiches were fine but only panini roll, no salad etc. I know most don't eat the salad anyway but I do. The big issue was that when the panini were served the staff brought out three of them but there was then a long delay before they brought out remaining two, by which time first three had almost finished eating. This is the reason only four rather than five stars. The cakes were to die for though. They were excellent and I can't fault them. We probably had an issue because we attended at a busy time, and for note, parking is a bit of an issue.

In response to your reply:

  1. I am male and my name is not Caroline!
  2. I gave you a four* review which is excellent so why are you so defensive?
  3. These issues affected us and I wrote an honest assessment but I personally NEVER told you there were no issues! I thought I paid value for money and my review reflects that - I RECOMMENDED you!! I wasn't going to complain about anything.
  4. Feedback is a gift. You can chose to accept it or reject it. Some use it to improve their services to become even better. Thank you for your in-depth reply. Please do not take it personally, and I stress I am NOT a lady...

I have visited Lavender House many times over the last 5 years and tried all of their menu. The staff are all friendly and attentive, I have not had a bad experience with service or food.

They are currently operating a reduced menu and only have the garden open. There is a small children's play area with a swing and slide. Dogs are welcome and offered water bowls. As it is Winter, there is shelter and heaters for some of the tables, however the unsheltered tables have parasols if needed. In Summer two of the tables are within the lavender bushes, which is lovely to see all of the bees busy at work, the back of the garden is a quiet haven from the busy road.

As the tables operate on a first come first served basis, you may find weekdays are best to pop in on a ad hoc basis for a table. They are open from 8AM on a weekday so it's ideal to grab a coffee on a school run before work. Throughout the pandemic they were a little piece of sanctuary to take some quiet time on a day off.

There is a large tea menu (Birchall tea), I tend to opt for the viranga chai tea or a (Monmouth) coffee. Occasionally there are evening events and the atmosphere is lovely. The menu is priced at what you would expect for...

The Lavender is the one place I can go and am always gauranteed a warm welcome, with great service from staff and always great coffee and food. I am yet to find a place that makes coffee as good as the Lavender. No matter what cake I try it is always delicous and fresh tasting. The decor and ambience of the place is like a warm hug as soon as you step through the door. The range of food is quite varied with delicous lunch specials, as well as delightful bagel and ciabatta fillings. There are also cream teas and breakfasts you can have. The cafe have used the space well, with ample number of tables inside and a lovely back garden with tables. There is also a small play area for the younger children for that much needed coffee break for parents and carers of young children. It really is a treasure trove. I am blessed to have it as my local; however, I can honestly say the warmth and friendliness that I encounter everytime I go in; was extended to me from the first day...

The Ladies at Lavender House Cafe were fantastic, very attentive, friendly and took an interest in our party which was really nice and made it feel that extra bit special. The food was lovely, the beautiful cakes, the glass of bubbly, all the lovely surprises was fantastic and the whole party loved it. The only thing stopping this from being a five is the fact that the place is quite small so at times we felt as though we were in the way but regardless this didn’t take away from the fantastic time with had and we appreciate that they took the time to fit us in and made a lovely effort with us and the babies also! We will definitely be back!

Hands down the best red velvet cakes here! Moist, not too sweet and perfect cream cheese frosting! Cute cafe with a homey decor. First discovered this place when I came for afternoon tea and I have not found a better red velvet cake. Large variety of cakes, macarons, brownies and cookies. Also have a good mix of ciabattas, bagels and warm foods. Have a garden at the back when you want to sit outside with swings for the kids. Great lil place and service is always friendly. Highly recommend this place ❤️
