The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, with a fantastic selection of real ales on draught, particularly the offerings from Harvey's, which were top-notch. One of the standout features is the jukebox, which adds a nostalgic charm and lets you set the perfect soundtrack to your visit. But the real highlight for me was the dartboard. I spent a thoroughly enjoyable hour honing my game, and it was a refreshing change to find a pub that still caters to traditional pastimes like this. The bar staff were absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and added to the overall warm vibe of the place. I left feeling very happy and can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a proper pub experience.

Very good pub in a quiet back street not far from Bromley North Station and the town centre. Five cask beers on handpump when I visited. A few tables outside at the front. The friendly locals pub offers a pizza menu and well kept real ales.

Back in the very early 1970s, I used to live in nearby Palace Road. We called the area The Golden Square, simply because we had The White Horse, The Anglesea Arms, The Freelands Tavern, The Crown and Anchor and The Red Lion...all within a 5 minute walk of each other.

It was a truly wonderful time to live in, what was basically a village within a town. A Friday night could be spent visiting all 5 pubs and you knew that each would offer something unique to your evening.

It's been many a year since I left the area, but I returned to The Red Lion on Saturday and it was like stepping back to those heady days of the early 1970s. Quite amazingly the present owners have been there for 30 years...which is testament to their business and the pull of this wonderful 'village' pub.

Great beers and ales, friendly and welcoming owners and staff... and even the locals no longer bite!!!

Often voted the best kept beer in Bromley. 3 regular ales and 2 guest ales every week .. plenty of outdoor seating and food (including freshly made pizza) served throughout the day. Very friendly and welcoming

Is there any more to add? Only the fact the Lion has been managed by Chris and Siobhan for 30 years and the reputation they have created is still there... Certainly one of, if not THE best kept and presented ale in...
