đ Nunhead đşÂ ÂŁ5.50 Pravha
The Man of Kent is one of three pubs located around Nunhead Green just south of Peckham. The nearest station is Nunhead mainline, itâs a five minute walk to get here.
This former Trumanâs pub was originally built in 1867. Much like many Trumanâs pubs, it was rebuilt in the 1930âs as part of their âimproved pubâ directive to make pubs more attractive to women. On the exterior the is the Truman eagle and beautiful stained leaded windows.
This is a good size oldschool pub that two has two adjoining bars and a sort of snug at the back. The servery is centrally located and is simple and functional. The decor is traditional with some exposed brick walls, an open fire, traditional furniture, a Joanna plus a few Guinness and spirits mirrors dotted around the walls. At the back of the pub is a cosy beer garden.
The beer line was all keg and was full of familiar favourites. I decided on a pint of Pravha, my pint was excellent, price point was below average. There is no food menu here but there are popups from time to time. Currently @dudadiner is in residence serving up tasty Malaysian food.
We arrived around 1pm on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in July. The pub was fairly busy with loyal locals sat around the bar eyeing up the horses for the next race. The atmosphere was upbeat, the locals were ripping into each other which had us in stitches. The service was fantastic, we received a warm welcome from the Lady behind the ramp who was friendly, funny and courteous.
This pub has plenty to keep you entertained including, live sport, a variety of different live music acts, check their socials for whatâs on.
@themanofkentse15 is a down to earth oldschool local with a warm and welcoming feel. I loved the architecture, most notably the original stained glass windows. The locals and staff are friendly, the beer is on point and reasonably priced. This is proper London boozer.

Read moreI would like to mention previous review from a Dan Lewis, his review was totally out of order! He rants that the establishment was homophobic and this is absolutely outrageous and total slander! The amazing owners, staff and all patrons, old and new, are all inclusive and welcoming of all communities. You will always be welcomed by all the staff. As with all licensed establishments they have a duty to adhere to the law, which clearly states it is illegal to serve anyone over the limit, any alcohol. This was the exact case with Dan Lewis. I recommend this wonderful pub...
Read moreThe previous review from Dan Lewis is not true. I was in the pub at the bar near him and his was very high. He was very aggressive. He was refused a drink because he was clearly drunk. And itâs illegal to serve someone when intoxicated. I come to this pub all the time. The staff are beyond kind, lovely and so friendly. Itâs one of the last remaining British proper local boozers. I cannot believe that this person has left this review when this is such a special, family...
