I discovered this place after a friend told me about it, and as it's no more than a stroll away, I was able to join her before she had swallowed more than a few bites of what looked to be a rather tasty omelette. Seeing the size of the courtyard and its location out of sight and smell of the pollution of Wood St, I immediately thought of my cycling group, where about half are either vegan or vegetarian, so when I went to order, my first questions covered the subject. Curiosity satisfied, I then ordered what had leaped to my attention from the comprehensive menu - a meat feast of two of the East London Sausage Company's finest bangers married to two rashers of their best back bacon. Consternation abounded, only sorted by my explanation that my sordid devotion to the carnivore cause is only mitigated by my need to cater for the needs of those who join my social bike rides, and since I had only my self to consider, I thought I would treat myself. Which I did. It was DELICIOUS, and subsequent visits allowed me to explore the rest of the menu, to my replete satisfaction. One of these days I'll even bring a bike...
Read moreWhat a gem of a Cafe this is! It was recommended to us by my wife's aunt, who lives in the area and used to stop in with her late husband for a drink and a bite to eat, and I can see why! The warmth of welcome from Enita, Elisa and Nonna Maria reminds that even in these divided times we live in, for some people community and curiosity in your fellow humans is still alive! It's a lovely place to sit, chat, people watch. The menu, with it's blend of traditional dishes alongside the more exotic choice - such as the palestinian shakshoukeh dish I had (pictured) is both hearty, interesting and great value. Whilst a 100,000 people marched on the otherside of London wanting their country back, we sat admist the vibrant, ethnically diverse Wood Green community and all was well. We'll be back. Thank you Enita,...
Read moreA very disappointing breakfast/brunch today, requested that my toast arrives at the same time as the rest of the breakfast. Was very abruptly told it arrives when it arrives; we are extremely busy - but will try and remember. Toast arrived early. The breakfast arrived 5 minutes after, vegetarian sausages were soggy due to an excess amount of water (possibly from the poached eggs), toast burnt on one side but served regardless (presented the other side up)...later spotted by staff and replaced but unfortunately I was already put off my breakfast by now. Waste of £7.
Yesterday's visit was much more enjoyable (I had dragged my colleagues out to this café).
I can look past the food issues as these things can happen...no one is perfect. But the attitude is unforgivable. Shame. Won't be...
