Wanted a simple quick easy snack and beer. The Pembroke seemed a reasonable choice. The reviews were quite old and a lot could change in the year to 4 they were submitted. They were not great especially the food. The pub was as expected, open, spacious and plenty of seating, with stools and booths. It was clean and tidy and plenty of seating to choose from. TVs playing sports and a number of clients dotted around and some outside, front and rear. At the bar, the staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. A nice range of beers, though nothing exotic or particularly different. Was served properly and in clean glasses. Reasonably priced. We had beers, juices and earl grey tea. Our food order was a plain burger and fries for our son, bangers n mash for the wife and I had the chilli burger. Whilst the food came promptly and was tidy and well presented. My burger actually looked like the pictures. There's a 1st! The plates seemed bare. My burger was literally just that. It would be nice to have a more wholesome meal, which would also look better. My wife's mash was dry and just a blob. Not very good. That said, other than those two observations, my burger was perfectly cooked, soft and juicy and full of taste. Really well presented and my wife and son's food was well cooked too. Given the quality of cooking, I can only assume the chefs are limited and controlled as to what they can serve on the plate. A shame as the chef seems to be of a high standard for such a pub. Our experience was very good and we would definitely consider again for a quick bite and beer.

I've eaten here many times without an issue. Food was never the greatest, but it was standard pub fare and filled a gap. Until our last visit. I ordered a grilled halloumi, red onion, and tomato wrap. I took a bite and found it strangely bland, no taste of onion or tomato at all. Well, that can happen. Even in the best-made sandwiches, it isn't always possible to distribute the filling 100% evenly. I took another bite. Same thing. So I wrapped the shell. The filling consisted of a few bits of grilled halloumi and a bit of wilted lettuce. I complained to the server, and she apologised and sent it back to the kitchen. A while later, I received a replacement. Rather than bite into it, I unwrapped it to see what I'd got this time. The wrap contained grilled halloumi with a few shreds of onion - no tomatoes at all. I couldn't be bothered to send it back a second time, but the server did apologise and gave us a couple of coffees in lieu. I went hungry.

Regularly dine at this lovely pub, with a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. After walking on the downs or Banstead woods, we head over to this great pub, for a meal and friendly welcome from Charlie the barman. There are loads of pubs to choose from, but the service, food and cleanliness makes this the best pub in the area by a mile. The service from the kitchen has never disappointed. The blue cheese burger is superb. Always leave satisfied, looking forward to the next meal and drinks. Thank you Charlie and the chef, it has always been a real pleasure. Our dog loves it here and cannot wait to find a table.

Exceptional Dining Experience at Pembroke Pub You Sent by you: write me a review about the amazing food and service given by Anastasia at the Pembroke pub in Coulsdon Copilot Sent by Copilot: Absolutely! Here’s a review highlighting the wonderful experience at the Pembroke pub in Coulsdon:

A Delightful Experience at the Pembroke Pub

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Pembroke pub in Coulsdon, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The highlight of our visit was the outstanding service provided by Anastasia. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel incredibly welcome and attended to our every need with a warm smile.

The food was nothing short of amazing. We started with the crispy calamari, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For the main course, I opted for the classic fish and chips, while my friend chose the hearty steak and ale pie. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with generous portions and rich, flavorful tastes that left us thoroughly satisfied.

Anastasia’s attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly enhanced our dining experience. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and ensured that our glasses were never empty. Her genuine care for the customers was evident, making us feel valued and appreciated.

The ambiance of the Pembroke pub added to the overall charm. It had a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a casual lunch or a special dinner, the Pembroke pub, with its fantastic food and exceptional service by Anastasia, is definitely...

Went for lunch with hubby the day after England qualified for the Euros final. Food was easy to order at the bar and the staff were very polite. Drinks ordered and water provided for our 6 month old puppy. Food was hot, delicious and an appropriate portion size. Not too large or too small and enough to fill you up. We had the cheese and bean toasties &the fish baguette. Drinks came with our meal which was nice surprise. Hubby had Strongbow original cider and said it tasted fresh and clean. Coke was as expected. Staff were very friendly in their interactions with us, and with our puppy who adored Anastasia.

The decor was updated a while ago and is very comfortable and welcoming. There is a hard floor area which humans and dogs are welcome and it has mostly high stool/bench seating. The rest of the pub is carpeted and dogs are not allowed to use this section which is understandable. Lots of telly's to show sports events, and a variety are shown, not only football. Atmosphere was quiet during our visit but we've been at other times and the atmosphere has been friendly...
