Updated review: very upsetting experience this morning. I popped in this morning for a quick breakfast at (what used to be) my favourite place for some timeout. Having remained a loyal customer before, during and after the lockdowns, coming in 3/4 times a week, using their evening takeaway and delivery service whilst it was running, bringing my kids to grab milkshakes and coming in for a cheeky glass of wine last week have all come to a bitter end with the way I was treated by Emily this morning. Being overcharged is one thing, human errors occur of course, but then being called a âdifficult personâ and being told my loyalty was not important as they have âplenty of loyal customers who come in everydayâ was shocking. Over what? A mocha that I used my points to retrieve. I was charged for a free coffee and my points were taken, I asked for the receipt as the price didnât add up and was made to feel like a thief! Then standing with her colleague and smirking and rolling her eyes genuinely alarmed me. This is not the type of experience Iâve ever had at CyCo and really hope that some work is put into future customer service. Iâve left my old review underneath for context. Needless to say, I will have to find an alternative place for me, my family and friends.
Old review: Best flat white Iâve had, genuinely. Lovely food too and at a reasonable price. Theyâve recently reduced their food menu and theyâre now closed on Tuesdays, which is on the same day as is Urban Fuse, and has subsequently reduced the options in Coulsdon on that particular day. Still, got to love the place and...
Read moreWe stopped by to pick up a quick takeaway brunch, well, that was the plan anyway.
We went straight in and ordered at the counter. As we were not told otherwise we assumed the food would be with us within 5-10minutes max. Having worked in kitchens for 15 years of my life, I donât think thatâs an unreasonable waiting time for what we ordered.
Not once did either of the staff behind the counter let us know what was happening with our order. Unfortunately the food took over 20 minutes to be with us. Which is too long to wait for, seeing as we only ordered a salt beef bagel and a chorizo toastie.
The food itself wasnât particularly great either. Certainly not worth the wait!
The salt beef bagel was predominantly filled with rocket and sauerkraut which completely overwhelmed the 2 measly slices of âsalt beefâ which looked like they were straight from the supermarket deli section. Wafer thin and little to no flavour.
The chorizo, tomato and chilli jam sourdough toastie sounded lovely. Unfortunately that is where it stopped. The bread was greasy, the fillings tasted like they were from a supermarket shelf. And to top it off, it was served with a nice warm salad on the side.
Not sure if we were just unlucky or whether they should just stick to...
Read moreCyCo is a really nice coffee shop with a minimalistic and chilled décor. The staff are extremely kind, proactive and friendly. The owner is especially interested in chatting to his customers and getting to know people in the community. I really like this! Its down to earth and friendly! It's something that franchises lack and can never beat.
CyCo has recently opened and it has really caused some competition amongst the coffee shops in Coulsdon. Introducing such a high quality and positive coffee shop in the heart of Coulsdon is definitely going to do this.
A wide range of food and drinks are on offer. I've heard alot of good things about the breakfasts. I need to get around to trying this.
Above all, I love the coffee! Personally, a good espresso is for me. Always very happy with this.
Free WiFi on offer as normal. A pretty perfect location to sit at the front of the shop looking out of the window while doing some work on a laptop. I feel it's very well...
