I run an LGBTQ+ group, and I wanted to share our wonderful experiences of working with The Railway.

Firstly, we love going back to The Railway because it’s a small pub with a big heart. The team behind the bar, in the kitchen, and in management are a gloriously diverse group of characters who truly make you feel welcome. They remember you when you walk through the door, always have time for a chat, and go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly – you only need to ask.

We’ve worked closely with Chris, their General Manager, and it’s hard to think of anyone who works harder. Chris has supported us in so many ways without ever asking for anything in return. He’s a shining example of how an individual and a business can make a genuine impact on their community. We also want to give a shoutout to Migs, who we believe is in the early stages of his management training. He always greets us with warmth, good humour, and a can-do attitude.

We enjoyed working with The Railway so much that we held our Christmas Party there, and it exceeded all expectations. The delicious three-course meal was excellent value, and we had access to our own private stage, sound system, bartender, and beautifully festive decorations complete with crackers. A special mention to Cai (I hope I’ve got that right!) for crafting incredible Espresso Martinis and handling every request – big or small – with efficiency and a smile.

The Railway is a gem of a pub with outstanding resources for hosting fantastic events. The food, drink, and service are all excellent, but it’s the staff who truly make the place shine. We can’t recommend this venue highly enough, especially if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Thank you to everyone at The Railway for your support, kindness, generocity and hard work. We can't wait to see what we can do together in 2025. And please, book us in for next year's Christmas Party already!

Booked to watch a World Cup match back in November 2022. They requested a deposit of £25 for a table, which was held on my card. On arrival there was no information that money should have been used up. Anyway, halfway through the match they changed the game they were displaying, and it took some convincing for them to change it back to the original game being shown. The food wasn't that impressive, and the chips portion had more paper on the serving bowl than chips. Anyway, a few days later as the money for the deposit was taken from my account I was told I would need to go to the pub to process the refund - which was impossible as I was away over the Christmas period. I asked for it to be re-issued to the card in which I paid, they said it was not possible. In the new year I was told they would post a cheque to me, as I don't live in London and going there would be difficult. After months going back and forth they eventually said they would not be able to post a cheque. I believe they wanted me to give up. After consulting with citizen's advice I told them I would expect the refund within 14 days. Didn't work. They said they would call me to process over the phone and that lead on to a wait of another three weeks. They scheduled a call and didn't call. When I eventually got them on the phone the person whom I spoke to (Hannah) didn't even apologize for how long it had been, nothing. Not even an acknowledgment of taking over 6 months to issue the refund. I have now finally received it, but that was super long. Extremely unhappy about how I was treated and how long it took to receive my refund. I will never go back and definitely do not...

We booked to have a Christmas dinner here and the experience was extremely disappointing.

The food was tasty and the price was reasonable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the environment was completely unsuitable for a group of people to sit down for a meal.

We were expecting a restaurant-like environment, but it was a lot more like a bar, with loud music, loud patrons drinking and shouting, standing around us in groups, and lots of hard surfaces so the sound reflected a lot. The result of all this was that we struggled to converse with anyone but the person right next to us.

We felt very out of place sitting down for a meal with all that going on around us, and even though the food was good, the experience as a whole was not enjoyable and I really wish I had chosen somewhere else.

I really don't understand why this venue was even taking bookings for Christmas dinners when it's obviously not at all suited to hosting them.

I'm sure this would be a fine venue to come to if you just wanted to get drunk with some friends, but if you're thinking of coming here for a meal with a group of friends, I would strongly...

2 starters a beer and a cider - £27. Ouch. I know London prices and all that but Woah! The 2 starters were nice, calamari and cauliflower bites, or wings? Can't remember. The chicken was very nice, cooked just right, not dry or tough. The sweet potato fries were crisp hut fluffy on the inside, however had a weird taste to them once they were no longer hot. Staff were friendly and polite, no one asked how our meal was until they were collecting the plates. There wasn't a single comfy chair in there! The tables were very creeky, which was annoying. The toilets were clean but not a single piece of toilet paper found in either toilets. Just can't give more than 3 stars, purely based on cost for what you got, the lack of somewhere comfy to sit and annoying creeky and loud tables.

The Staff the stuff was cheerful especially Migs . The food is excellent plenty full No need to book great fun& open Christmas Day, Boxing Day Sundays and well cooked massive Yorkshire pudding nice roast beef dinners and chicken dinners even if vegetarian roast and it’s clean table you get mustard salt and pepper? I like the way the knives and forks come in the container with the serviettes very amicable friendly atmosphere it’s got windows on all sides so it’s light. It’s nice for sitting outside into summer or warmer weather and it’s one place I’ve known since the late 70s 80s 90s do come and try their food and their burgers and they’re puddings lovely stuff especialy Miggs
