I had a very poor experience here for a Sunday Roast
I came with some friends for a roast dinner at about 4pm on a Sunday( we rang up beforehand and were told there’s no need to book, they’re serving roasts til 7pm) I’m a vegetarian and when we tried to order, I was told they’d already ran out of veggie and vegan options. I asked if I could just get a plate with everything except the meat (ie all the veg, potatoes, Yorkies) and said I was happy to pay - the waitress said she will double check with the chef, she took my friends orders and we sat and waited and heard nothing back so assumed all was fine.
30 mins later waitress brings my friends their roasts out and and nothing for me…I ask what was happening with my food and she went back to the kitchen , came back a few minutes later and handed me a tiny bowl with 3 potatoes and a handful of cabbage…?!! She said that was all they could offer me and that she had to beg the chef just to give me some cabbage? I asked why I couldn’t get a plate with carrots, potatoes, yorkies, gravy all the things everyone else was given and she said it wasn’t possible …. If it wasn’t possible for me to eat why not tell me this before taking our orders and making us wait half an hour …before handing me a dogs bowl half filled with cabbage and 3 potatoes..? If you’d have just let me know that’s all you could offer me, we’d have eaten elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend coming if you’re a veggie or vegan … unless you really...
Read moreA totally underwhelming experience this Sunday afternoon at the Salisbury pub. Quality of beverages was very poor and the food was astonishingly bad considering the price we paid for it. We ordered two roast dinners, one with chicken and one vegan dinner (as there was no simple vegetarian option it had to be vegan), both were poor the only saving grace was that the chicken was cooked quite well, the vegetables had seen better days and the Yorkshire pudding looked and tasted like it was cooked the morning before. Our main concern was that we ordered a 'kids meal' for our little one - we ordered a vegetable puff pastry and what arrived at the table was some short crust pastry cases with a few left over carrots from the main roast dinners inside them with some cheap melted cheddar on top. We made sure the chef was informed of our disappointment; the pub didn't offer any apology or money off the bill for the substandard food. Disappointing all round really. Shame as the venue...
Read moreWhat lets this place down is the annoying pretentious middle class parents in ugly 80s clothes, trying to look working class. They bring along their noisy kids and there's just a lot of screaming and I've been a regular for almost five years, nothings changed. I'm all for family friendly pubs but everytime I'm here there are children crying and screaming and ruining the experience. Place is a bit pricey but it deserves to be. It's an incredible building with very hard working and friendly staff. They accommodate everyone. Vegan options. Fantastic drinks. Tasty snacks and great jukebox. There's a function room also that hosts a variety of things that makes this place a real nice atmosphere in regards of preserving a community. The location is a bit weird but that's just a sign if the times. Friendly dog loving welsh owner. Well worth a visit if you can turn a blind eye to annoying punters and...
