The Sponge Kitchens — Restaurant in London

I ordered a 21st birthday cake from here, ordered 3 weeks in advance as I needed it for the 15th February as we was celebrating with family in London as I live in wales. I waited 5 minutes and they brought me down a cake with happy 70th birthday on and I told them that’s not my cake. Then then went back upstairs to find my cake, the staff that was serving at the counter told me the cake decorator had left a few days ago so it have been put somewhere else. I was then greeted by someone from the office upstairs to be told my cake had not been made and the decorator had left in December!!! I think the people running the shop need to get their story’s right before telling people a load of lies, I then had to run around to find a cake shop who had a cake ready for me to take away that day for my daughter. I was so angry at the service I received from this shop, I have had a few cakes from here but will not be...

Been coming here for years, popped in today .. and not one smile or acknowledgement that we was even there, until they realise there is 6 of us in the shop and make me and the man in front of me go back outside with 2 small children after standing in the shop for 5 mins, with no sign outside or on the door instructing anyone that it’s only 3 people aloud in. Costomer service was shocking and the sandwiches was slap dash. The staff really should learn to smile and be abit more friendly, it would definitely improve the experience. Also looked abit grubby behind the sandwich section such a shame because it was great...

Lovely sandwiches, cakes and treats but the service is really shocking here and always has been, particularly on busy weekends. Although the young assistants seem pleasant enough they don't seem to have the desire to serve people too much and you can be standing in the queue for absolutely ages whilst they are pottering around doing other 'stuff' and there is no apology for keeping you waiting, it really borders on indifference. Tables are not cleared and wiped often enough and it is run quite 'slapdash' - shame because it could be absolutely fabulous, maybe that's why the place round the corner always...
