I have to start by saying that I never usually leave reviews but this place needed it so they can hopefully take note. ||Myself and my wife stayed here for 4 nights as my sister was having her wedding in the area.||The room we stayed in was very tired and in need of some work to get it up to standard for guests to stay comfortably. Appearance wise there was alot of damage to walls etc that really just needed one day with a decorator. The carpet was very worn, the toilet roll holder was torn off the wall, taps loose, toilet seat loose, parts missing from the shower, again, easy to fix so it makes you wonder why it hasn't. The shower only had warm water for 5 minutes then went cold.||However, the worst part is the noise. Yes, it is a pub so you do have to expect some noise but this room sounded like you were staying in the office of a night club. The room seems to be above the sound system. On Sunday there was live music for 3 hours and the kick drum effect they used was shaking the room. The window in the room was an old tired single glazed window which was warped and could not be completly closed. It sounded like you were staying outside it was that loud.||We did mention the noise to the staff and they tried to move us but the room they thought to be available was actually booked. All we could do was buy some ear plugs.||Whilst we were out it seemed staff had been in our room to take out the only hand towel we had and replace my large towel with a stained one?||We had several meals there and though some were nice it always seemed to arrive cold. I'm easily pleased with a Sunday Road but every element of theirs was really dry. On the last morning I repeated my breakfast order 3 times to the lady and it still arrived wrong. Not sure why they don't write it down?||The reason I haven't given the lowest possible rating is because of the staff. They were all great and helpful but overall our trip was ruined by...
Read moreMy parents stayed at the Victoria Inn in July.
Upon arrival, the room was very hot and the air conditioning didn’t work (they could’ve checked beforehand). The room had two windows: the first one looked towards pretty much the wall of another building, and the second one had frosted glass so you couldn’t see the actual view (the back of a kitchen, with all its pipes). The room itself was small-ish than what I was expecting but it was ok, in particular, the bathroom was very nice.
When we noticed the air conditioning wasn’t working, the employees were very kind and changed my parent's room just for the night to one that was way bigger, with a great view of the main road. I asked if my parents could be moved for their stay (2 nights left) in a better room, as I felt like they didn’t quite like the first one – they are not "teenagers" anymore, they want to get their money's worth. Especially as, just two days before this, my parents stayed in a bed and breakfast type pub in roughly the same area for the same price and it was spectacular, so they obviously kept comparing it to the Victoria Inn! Unfortunately, the only room that was available was very similar to the first one, only slightly bigger and with slightly more light (there was another one but they couldn't show it to us as "it hadn't been cleaned"). In addition, I overheard one of the employees talking about the room situation, and it was clear they had something available – just didn't want to make the effort to change the reservation because they would have had to "upgrade" my parent's room.
This said, the kitchen was good (with good food and beers), and the...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights whilst both visiting our eldest son in Peckham and watching our middle son run the London Landmarks Half Marathon. We booked a superior double at almost £170 per night bed and breakfast. The room whilst spacious and with a comfortable bed was very tired with paint peeling from the walls and ceiling in places and all along the top of the radiator. |We asked for extra pillows when we checked in at 16:30 on the Friday but had to ask again on the Saturday as they didn't appear despite being promised.|The plug in the bath didn't work so when we showered it didn't drain. We informed reception who just removed the entire plug mechanism, so whilst it drained, you couldn't take a bath!|Breakfast was supposed to be served from 08:00 at weekends. However, when we tried to get into the breakfast area at 08:10 on the Sunday to get something quick to eat before we had to travel across London for the start of the race, the door was locked and all the lights were out. We went outside and tried to get in through the front door but it too was locked and we couldn't get anyones attention. We couldn't wait any longer and had to go to a coffee shop along the road from the Inn to get some breakfast.|We did have breakfast on the other mornings and it was very good indeed.|For the price we were very disappointed. There were may other options in 4 star hotels which we could have chosen at that price point and are sorry that we didn't. We won't be staying in The Victoria Inn the next time we...
