🚇 Peckham Rye 🍺 £5.60 Cruzcampo
Found on the ever-popular Bellenden Road in Peckham, Southeast London, The Prince Albert is just a short stroll from Peckham Rye station.
Built in 1867, the pub has been owned by brewers including Charrington’s and the Notting Hill Brewery. Bellenden Road takes its name from the 7th Lord Bellenden of Broughton and, up until the mid-19th century, the area was filled with fruit gardens supplying the City of London.
Inside, it’s a traditionally decorated, one-bar pub split into two adjoining rooms. The tiled servery sits in the front bar with a brick fireplace, dartboard, and low seating. Opposite are poser tables and a jukebox, while the rear room is cosier, featuring dimpled banquettes, another fireplace, and mixed seating. The decor blends old and new — boarded floors up front, carpet at the back, geometric tiles around the servery, and a mix of neutral paint and exposed brick. Historical prints line the walls, pendant lights hang overhead, and a few TVs show live sport. Out back, there’s a tidy patio garden with large benches, partly covered for all-weather pints.
The beer range covers familiar keg favourites, plus two cask lines (though not on during my visit). I went for a Cruzcampo — excellent pint and fairly priced at under six quid. It’s a wet-led pub, so no food menu, but plenty of snacks to keep you going.
I arrived around 1pm on a warm, overcast Saturday in August. The place had a steady buzz and that proper local feel. The footy was on, the pints were flowing, and the atmosphere was easy-going. I had a quick chat with a local heading off to Millwall — turns out his sister runs the pub, and she came over for a friendly hello. Service was spot on: personable, chatty, and down to earth.
The pub screens live Premier League matches and hosts regular karaoke, open mic, and DJ nights.
All in all, The Prince Albert is a cracking local — friendly punters, great service, and sensibly priced beer. A proper Peckham pub with bags of character. Rated it. Well worth a visit.

Nice ambulance. Pub food menu in the evening. Lovely...
