I’ve purchased a ticket on the ‘southern railway app’ and the ticket wouldn’t appear so I tried to speak to the man at the machine. He was so rude & aggressive for no reason - I spoke in a calm tone yet he blanked me and responded with “is it my fault” “you did not book your ticket” whilst allowing others to go through with 0 payment and even some barging through the barriers. I showed him proof of purchase as when you pay on apple pay it gives you time and date. He even asked me to “mind how i am talking” yet my delivery was as polite as it could get. Another colleague also appeared and i explained, asking for help yet was ignored. I work for the NHS & deal with people everyday & never have i spoken or dealt with anyone how he did in my life. I’m so shocked at his response and reaction as it was unwarranted & actually took me by surprise how unfriendly and disrespectful he was… I walked away i’m a young lady but...

Essential transport link for this tube-less part of SE London. Like everywhere else, services have become less frequent and convenient over the years. Station facilities remain grim. I've never seen the toilet on platform 4 open. The platforms are not wide and can get overcrowded. Everyone is funneled to the same platform end and it has felt dangerous for many years. Rather than address these problems, the station building is being tarted up at great expense. When u see this station, u never believe that this main area is part of London zone 2. So dirty station. Less light, no bright colours but dart wall paint, made it feel more dirty. For God sake, there’s people living around not animals. The trains on this station are more reliable then staff who are rude n unfriendly. Far away from professional job. The station could do with some refurbishment and modernisation n put some lifts for helping disable, old n mothers with prams because too many stairs for going up not suitable for all...
