While having drinks a member of the public was arguing with the bar staff being refused to be served. The man was clearly being rude and he spat at the bartender. Witnessed by my friends and I along with other patrons. After 5 min of what I consider an assault incident the man was still in the bar. The management appeared not to be taking any action regarding the incident, not asking him to leave or supporting the members of staff that had been assaulted. We asked if they had called the police and the answer was no because no one had been physically hit. So I called the police to report the incident. Took a picture of the man and passed it on.

The place is like any other Wetherspoons, it is clean, a great place to celebrate birthdays. Young families are warmly welcome. The price is cheap and cheerful. The portions are adequate and filling. The hot drinks refill is good for students and families who just want to relax and chit chat with one another. It can get quite noisy inside and that means it is a very popular place for the local and not so local people. The chicken was boiled before being roasted so the meat didn’t taste fresh. The meat just slid off the bone. The sauce was indeed spicy.

Local pub in New Malden high street along B282 and B283 roundabout. Open all day. Pub is not a typical pub as is huge in itself. Busy at certian times. Drinks cocktails and food very affordable. Accommodating team of staff. Has good toilet facilities. Good place to meet up and chat with colleagues after work or for celebrating special occasions. Has ample outside seating. Place has no parking onsite but you can easily find parking along the road/area. Very highly recommended for a late night out in the area. Will be back soon.

One star only as I had to give a star. Basically on Monday I went with my family and sister to have a quick lunch. My sister had done her order which was a bit confusing but we managed to get there in the end. The bartender was getting a bit annoyed but I just ignored it. When it came to pouring our drink I asked why she was pouring 3 orange jucies when we had only ordered 1 childs menu. She explained we had ordered 3 but I said not to worry we will take it but if she could change of of the orders from nuggets to hotdog. When the food came out I noticed my niece didn't have her orange juice so I asked the waitress if she could bring us it. A few mins later the bartender comes to us arguing that we only brought 2 kids meals and why had we asked for another drink. I said that she had told us it was 3 child's menu but not to worry I would just buy another drink which I did. At that point my sister asked her for a Pepsi for my niece which made my realise I had left my Pepsi at the bar. When going back to grab it there was a girl sat near the bar shouting to the girl behind the bar "you have a lot of patients to deal with them I wouldn't be able to" I heard but acted silly and grabbed my drink. Then we ate and my sister left about 1 min before me and my kids. While we was walking out the same girl that was sat near the bar was sat at a table with a waitress and said very loudly as I'm passing by " look at the state they left that table fg disgusting" . I stopped and looked back. All I had on the table was the 12 plates of food that was served to us and our drinks. At no point did any of the kids mess the floor. So I asked her what was the problem with my table all it was was my plates and if I am meant to take them to the kitchen and wash them. She said again "how it was fg disgusting how we had left the table" but I said that it was their job to clear away the plates. She started to swear and me and even said she was going to punch me if I didn't shut up. At no point did the waitress sat with her say it was OK and to leave it she just kept shut. I was with the father of my kids so he said he would make a complaint to head office and took a picture of her to send to them. She got even more angry and started insulting us. At no point did a manager or any member of staff ask us what had happened instead we had a waiter tell us to leave. I tried to explain to him that I never called her names or swore at her and she needed to respect me. The waiter laughed in our faces and pushed us out. What happen to customer is always right. I stopped a couple that was sat behind us and the gentleman said he was near the bar when I was ordering and noticed the bartender giving me dirty looks and getting annoyed. The staff in this place are disgusting and don't think about there customer but there friends. We also felt like they were being rasist towards us. Never...

REALLY DISAPPOINTED.....

A few years ago we used to have breakfast in the Watchman and it was lovely, with warm friendly staff and very fast service. We noticed it started to decline over the last year so started eating breakfast elsewhere.

Today we decided to see if it had changed and I'm afraid to say ....no!

We ordered one eggs benidict with the refill coffee and a traditional breakfast. On ordering we asked for the bacon to be well done (burnt) and they said that will be fine.

When they arrived to our table the bacon clearly wasn't well done as the fat was still completely white.

NO CHECK BACK.....

As we received no check back which I think should come as a basic standard especially as it was not busy in there and they were just happy talking between themselves behind the bar. My partner had to come looking for the staff to inform them about the bacon.

CUSTOMER SERVICE.....

After explaining to the lady with blonde hair, she said back "no it is well done". This was shocking to hear instead of maybe something like....."I'm sorry, let me change it for you". Again basic customer service.

SLAMMED PLATE?.....

When she brought the new bacon over on a plate, she slammed it on the table and said "is that good enough for you" while walking away with no eye contact without even giving me time to answer.

NEVER TALK ABOUT CUSTOMERS IN PUBLIC.....

Straight after the plate was slammed down I went to refill my coffee at the bar and as I got to the bar the lady was obviously chatting to her female colleague about the situation. They both saw me come up they stopped talking and went to carry on their conversation in the little room at the end of the bar where the glasses get washed.

MESSAGE TO GENERAL MANAGER......

As petty as this sounds, from our experience you have lost a customer. I hope you will take action on re-training your staff in basic service excellence delivery so you don't lose more. I'm sure you have all areas covered by CCTV to back up what had happened today. There was also a group of three males sitting behind us in the booth section who also didn't get...

I have breakfast here very often on a Sunday but made the error of going on a Saturday when it is a different kettle if fish. The 4 star is due to fact that general the food is great value for money, friendly staff and a pleasant experience.

But a Saturday? NO!! based on yesterdays experience it would get a 2.

Upside.... the bacon was cooked nicely, the plates appeared clean and the toast was perfect.

Downside.....there were only dirty tables when we arrived. a young lady cleared the plates off one for us BUT never returned to cleared the food debris, marks and crumbs from previous occupiers. we used the APP and received our food but no drinks. were told we had to go to the bar to get drinks.... I explained that we use the APP every week and the drinks are bought to table. this provoked an eye roll as the person turned off and returned with cups for our drinks. we then had to leave our hot food to queue for drinks. so food a little cold when back (but that's not a biggie). I always give my friend the hash browns but when i moved the top hash browns i found that an entire chunk was missing from the bottom hash brown and had been hidden by the second hash brown being placed over the missing third!!!!! This missing third egges were not crispy so had not been in the fryer like that. the options are.... 1 it was a left over from a previous diner that has been reused on my plate....YUCK or 2 someone in the kitchen took a chunk off. when I explained to the server her answer was simply.... do you want a new one??? no sorry or surprise.

back on the upside the eggs had no slimey white goo.

would I go again on a Saturday.... no Epsom one is great on Saturday.

would i go on a Sunday.. of course as i never had any...
