Horrible experience. Went for a quick brunch, two of us only. A nice waiter took the order then we waited 40minutes for our breakfast, while all the other guests who arrived longer after us were receiving their food. I tried to stop a guy to ask how long still for the food, I don’t know his name but is bald and he did not even listen but went to speak to other guests. When the waitress arrived with the food I mentioned “40 mins is a very long time to wait” she quickly said “sorry” and left. Only at the end, the waiter with nice nails, took a minute to say he was sorry for the wait. We did appreciate that but the team should be trained on doing that in advance. Clearly there was not communication with the kitchen team and worst, no communication with the guests. Someone should have mentioned we were going to wait that long and also we should have had an explanation with the reason. If the issue is the dish which mainly was eggs and bacon!! We could have go for another option. So rude and unprofessional. There is an add to recruit waiting staff but definitely what they need is a manager and trainings. Last point, the most disappointing, when the food arrived it was not even good and the bacon I was given it was clearly from at least one day earlier, look at the pic. They took the left over and fried it again!

Attracted by the décor of vintage wall tiles overlooking cozy lighting, Mummy and I had been wanting to eat at Wet Fish Café for a while. Once a wet fish shop, this now café is a favorite with locals. We did lunch with a friend of Mummy’s. I am disappointed to report that the food was not as we were hoping. If one orders avocado as the main item ones expects it to be a beautiful green colour and to have the whole of one half, if not more. A lacklustre greyish-brownish green with hints of darkening rings, it really shouldn’t have been served. Perhaps bruised bits had been cut out and is why there seemed to be so little. The small salad garnish did little to cheer it up but was better than the avocado itself. We sampled some of our friend’s gravlax and found it overly salty and sludgey in colour. It tasted somewhere between supermarket and the decent stuff! I’d not eat here again. Mummy found both the white wine (Spanish I think) and red wine (Italian, Valpolicella), mediocre. She is a fussy so-and-so though! The server was very friendly. Considered touches in the one lavatory, is a nice plant on the top of the lavatory high cistern and a fancy lavatory paper holder. There are stairs up to the lavatory and it is very small.

Me and my partner had a two course meal each at The Wet Fish Cafe. We went for one starter, two mains and one dessert. Let me first start off by saying I rarely eat fish and wouldn’t usually choose it as a first choice and was going to choose the ribeye steak BUT! I decided to bite the bullet and go for fish - the battered cod, and my oh my was it just divine. It was paired along with a potato thing and tartare which was just delicious. My partner got the catch of the day which was Hake with parsnip chips and leek and mushroom risotto which was equally as amazing. We had a squid starter and bread with olive oil that tasted nice. Finally, we got the passion fruit creme brûlée with some fresh fruit and a biscuit. The dessert was out of this world but that could be me being bias as it tasted like the white chocolate passion fruit from hotel chocolat which is my favourite one from there. I am a very picky eater but everything we ate today was brilliant. No crumbs were left! Staff were easygoing and friendly. We left the restaurant with happy stomachs. This place is always busy which reflects just how good their food is. I would definitely recommend!

My partner and I stumbled upon this place completely by accident. We normally go by recommendations but decided to try something different and we are so glad we did! From the moment we walked to the door wondering if the had availability, to the moment we left, everything was fantastic. Michael greeted us with a warm smile and wonderful enthusiasm, seating us at the window. It was such a lovely evening, it felt as though we were on holiday watching the world go by. I had the mussels and my partner had the scallops to start. Both were fantastic. Considering both can go terribly wrong and tasted like rubber if not cooked well, we were so delighted when they were cooked to perfection. The white sauce with the mussels was the perfect balance of zest and salt. For the mains we both had the sole with a medley of vegetables and polenta fries on the side. The polenta fries were a perfect consistency of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm not sure what the sauce on the side was, but it was a perfect match and so tasty. The sole was also cooked perfectly. It was soft and delicate and the vegetables complimented it perfectly, particularly the leek confit. For dessert we both had the chocolate cake and oh how divine. I love chocolate and so I can be very fussy. But this chocolate cake was warm, soft and gooey and paired with a delicious coconut ice cream with real coconut shards which added a great texture and flavour bursting in your mouth. All in all it was a wonderful evening with a great atmosphere and fantastic food. However, the icing on the cake and what really made it special was Michael and Harry. They ran the whole restaurant without a hiccup. They were attentive without being over-bearing and they made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. They were both wonderful and added that little extra something to an already...
